...And I don't think he's any better today than Iowa's #1 and #2 RBs playing for the Hawks this year...
Correct. Iowa's RB room is more stacked right now than any room I can remember.
We have 3 guys I'd be pretty confident with as a starter.
We had some years where there were two very solid guys like Wadley/Daniels, Wadley/Butler (Buttwad), Sargent/Young, Goodson/Sargent, and even a decent trio of Goodson/Sargent/Young, but Johnson/Patterson/Moulton is the best room as a whole (potential-wise) of the Ferentz years. You could argue better RB rooms based on stats, but keep in mind KJ is still knocking on the door of '08 Greene while also giving up 81 carries so far to Moulton and Patterson with 4 games left.
In '08 Hampton and O'Meara only got 102 combined carries the entire year.
Patterson/Moulton have 10.1 carries per game between the two, Hampton/O'Meara got 7.8 carries per game in '08.
Shonn Greene ended up with 142.3 YPG in 2008
KJ is sitting at 143 YPG on the dot so far in 2024.
Hawks strength of schedule was 58th in the country in '08.
Hawks SOS is 28th in the country right now.
Greene had Ricky Stanzi in the backfield with him threatening linebackers and safeties.
KJ has had 7.5 games of what I call the Cade McNamara Box of Death staring him in the face.
I don't think people really realize that KJ might be the best running back Iowa's ever had not wearing the number 24.
