I actually support this. Doesn't really make sense to be a legal adult but not able to drink alcohol. You can get drafted, you can enlist, you can smoke cigarettes...you can get charged as an adult and you get treated as an adult...but yet you can't drink alcohol. It really doesn't make sense.
Pretty sure we tried prohibition. Big failure.Responding to more than one comment. I can't say I've seen anyone benefit from alcohol. Seen a number directly and indirectly have their lives destroyed by it.
Kids don't drive much today period. That would correlate to less drinking and driving.
Volunteering for military service is a choice. I don't like it being 18. Military likes young ones as they are more likely do do what they are told in danger. Draft is a different thing. 18 yo's won't be drafted until after all other ages up to 25 are used up. 19 yo's are second to last, except the first to go are those coming up on their 20th birthday.
Talking about drinking with an adult in the home is different than in public. If there is no abuse, likely there are no consequences. In this country, when a minor is drinking with a parent, it's mostly not in positive light.
You don't have to be 18 to be prosecuted as an adult.
Fetal alcohol syndrome accounts for the majority of the prison population according to some studies.
Alcohol is the real gateway drug.

Really, alcohol, especially in excess, is totally mind altering lowering inhibitions and decision making, etc etc. I like a few beers once in a while and the effect is easy to feel and notice. What do you think causes these on campus problems and fraternity hazing issues. being drafted is not mind altering , maybe, smoking isnt ,
I've seen way more 40-70 year olds destroy their lives with alcohol than 18-30 year olds.
Pretty sure we tried prohibition. Big failure.
You've clearly never seen me dance.I can't say I've seen anyone benefit from alcohol.
Do you really think that drinking is the root cause of hazing and college age guys being idiots? Have you ever been in a room with a few 18-20 year old guys? I don't know what is with this "high and mighty" mentality out of some of you. It's like you've forgotten that you too were a young adult once, and I'm sure you did quite a bit of stupid shit, whether you were sober or wasted.Really, alcohol, especially in excess, is totally mind altering lowering inhibitions and decision making, etc etc. I like a few beers once in a while and the effect is easy to feel and notice. What I love is how my in-laws lecture me about the dangers of marijuana, usually with a beer in their hands.
