Tyler Wiegers Progressing as Man Behind Beathard

If he's the next guy, I hope he gets many opportunities for game time experience this year while we are comfortably in the lead.

That would be nice but we seemed to have a problem letting teams back in when we should put them away.Hopefully this year will be different and if he does get in the game have him do more than just handing the ball off.

Definitely the more experience the better, not just for TW but for a lot of the reserves. As Grandpa said, we just didn't run away from teams last year.

I think the back-ups will get some decent reps in Week 1. Miami (Ohio) is not a good team.

I hope the starters barely work up a sweat this first game. However with the young receiving group that we have I wonder what the coaches line of thinking will be on it as far as pulling CJ goes. I'd think if Iowa's up 4 tds in second half you won't see much of CJ anymore. But maybe he'd get a possession or two in 3rd q under that scenario just to get more live reps with the youngins? I think I'd prefer pulling everyone as much as possible... Even though you can't beat game time reps I'd rather keep em all healthy not just CJ.

dido for week 2

TW - 4star
Stanley - 4star
Drew Cook - 4star athlete
Peyton Manziel - 20star

Yeah, the QB position is in good hands.

I agree that if they get up and are going to play the 2nd team, don't just have them hand off to get some time on the field.... turn 'em loose!!! Let's see what they got. It's not running up the score if the other team can't stop your 2nd string. That's my philosophy, but I know it's not shared by everyone................
