Tyler Sash's Facebook Status

Quoted from Tyler's Facebook: Cute little status update begging people not to comment on your play. Maybe if you spent less time on facebook and more time practicing you could cover scrubs like Trumpy, etc. Maybe you could have covered the AZ receiver. Loved seeing the D WILT at least 3 times this year. Thanks for your part in ruining the season... thanks @Anthony Sicilio for the message - you will be in my prayers (end quote)

Seriously, this is just embarrassing. If I didn't love this team so much, I'd wish for a couple 6-win seasons, just so fans like the above will go away, and I can love the team through thick and thin. I don't agree with EVERYTHING we do, but talking trash to the players is beyond crossing the line.

I don't understand what the first paragraph means.

He received a Facebook e-mail from Anthony whatever. He posted the message as his status, then just added the "thanks for the message, you'll be in my prayers".

So a Hawk "fan" sent him that first paragraph.

I think the first paragraph is something that was posted on TMFS's facebook, and tm pasted it in his OP to show how f'd up it is.
EDIT: thanks for amplifying, tm.

Anyone who sends facebook messages like that to the players is a giant pile of crap. It's saddens me that a worthless pile of human garbage like this is an Iowa "Fan."

I normally don't advocate violence as a solution to anything, but this internet tough guy needs to have his teeth punched out.

I see. Makes sense now.

Anthony Whatever is a real D-bag.

He certainly is, and I don't get the feeling that he is the only one sending similar messages to the players. Clayborn had a status today that I thought suggested that maybe he was getting a little heat from punks too.

I admire our players...they should not be friends with 95% of the people they are...I would wager that most of the people that are reading the statuses of Sash and Clayborn probably don't personally know them. Why would a player do that? It's just asking for trouble...if i was a player I'd have my account sealed up tight. no one can see me unless I invite them.

But I'm guilty of player facebook "stalking" I am friends with DJK...just because his statuses are usually dang funny or entertaining.

And then for them to allow these fans in and then the fans take a $hit on them....it's uncalled for...wow

I'm definitely guilty of it ("stalking"), though it doesn't feel quite so creepy given that I'm a student too. I do know a couple players a little bit, but still.

And yeah, some idiots take advantage of the fact that these players let them in like that. You don't see that everywhere. Hell, I tried finding Arnaud on Saturday to offer some well-wishes after I heard that he got hurt and his career was over. Nowhere to be found. Then for s*its and giggles, I looked up Alexander Robinson too. No dice.

People need to get a life and realize that these guys are human, they make mistakes. They certainly don't go out and do it on purpose. "Thanks for ruining the season". In case the morons don't know, it's the PLAYERS' season first. We share a lot with them, and that's what makes Iowa football so special. But the season belongs to the players before it belongs to us.

These are the types of comments you have to be prepared for, if you're going to have a f-book page. Comes with the territory..

These guys are celebrities in the state of Iowa. I don't feel sorry for him at all.

The D sh*t the bed 3 different times this year and we lost all three of those games. Maybe this is the type of criticism he needs. However, the person who sent this message could have left out the "thanks for ruining the season," that's just a blow below the belt. 9-3 isn't a bad record, and if the expectations weren't high at the beginning of the year, it would be a successful season in most fans' eyes. (no guarantees here of course)

I hope these dudes have thick skin, cuz they're gonna hear this type of crap a lot this week. I just hope they don't give up on the season and lose the next two games... I can see this happening.

seriously, lame by that guy- but at the same time... why do the players insist on having friends that aren't friends. I get the popularity thing, but this wouldn't be an issue if you don't allow your personal fb page to be your fan page.

Low life. Those are the words that come to mind.

My guess is it's some kid from some Chicago suburb that became an Iowa fan the last year or two because he is going to school there and is all ****** off because he won't be getting drunk in New Orleans and is lashing out at a player for it.

That's weak stuff. Real weak.

ADDED EDIT: Folks, I am not ripping on Iowa fans from Chicago. I could have written any town. I just have in my mind some kid who just started going to Iowa and has been a 'fan' for a year or two and is ticked off because he won't be going to the party. It has nothing to do with Chicago and everything to do with bandwagon

Whoah. Whoah. That's a bit unfair. I'm from the suburbs and have been a Hawk fan since I was 5 and I know alot of others as well. Don't lump us in with this dirtbag.

I highly doubt all the fair weather/booing/jerk fans are all from outside the state.

Come on.

Yeah seirously Jon. The above is weak stuff.

First off, whoever sent that to Sash is a real loser....no doubt about it.

On the other hand, players do have to learn to deal with it. As a player, you can't be willing to accept the overboard adulation of fans when the team is doing well and then pi$$ and moan when those same fans turn on you. Happens all the time.

I'm sure it's a nice stroke to the ego when a player sees all the "friends" they get on facebook by opening it up to every Tom, Dick and Harry in the world. But at the same time, those same "friends" will turn on you in a heartbeat when you lose to Northwestern. Easiest way around that is to shut it down completely and allow only close friends and family in.
