DENVER, Aug. 13, 2019 – The Denver Nuggets have signed rookie free agent forward Tyler Cook to a two-way contract and free agent guard P.J. Dozier to a training camp contract, President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly announced today.
Cook, 6-9, 255, most recently appeared in three games for the Nuggets’ Las Vegas Summer League team, averaging 4.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.00 steals in 11.3 minutes per game. Cook went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft out of the University of Iowa where he played three seasons, averaging 14.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 93 total games (92 starts).
Dozier, 6-6, 205, spent last season on a two-way contract with the Boston Celtics, where he appeared in six games for the Celtics and averaged 3.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 6.8 minutes. He appeared in 46 games (all starts) for the Maine Red Claws of the G League where he posted 21.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.28 steals in 32.0 minutes per game. In 2017-18, he signed a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder where he played in two games for the Thunder and 43 games for the Oklahoma City Blue of the G League. Dozier originally went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft after spending two years at the University of South Carolina where he averaged 10.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.34 steals in 70 total games (63 starts).
Cook will wear #34 and Dozier will wear #35 for the Nuggets.

From what I can find, the Nuggets, last year anyway, were one of two teams to not have their own G League affiliate, the other being Portland. What they did was work out agreements with other G League teams to send their players to them, sending them to different teams. So, who knows where TC will play his G League games, last year the Nuggets seemed to send most to Sioux Falls, the G League team of the Miami Heat.
Being a Phoenix Suns fan here's how the two way contract worked for them. The two way contract players can play something like 45 games, nof sure of the exact number but there is an exact number and if they reach that number they have to be signed to a full contract or released.
The two way players can practice with the parent team but most often they are going to be playing in G League games. If the parent team has an injury, a need for a specific type player say a backup PG, or any reason to shore up their roster for a game they can their can activate their two way player. So they are gonig back and forth between the G League and the parent team on a regular basis.
The NBA now has 15 on their regular roster with two inactive for each game. With the two way players the roster really goes up to 17. So there has to be a good reason to use the two way players in a regular NBA game.

NBA two-way players will earn $77,250, prorated for days spent on an NBA G League roster, and the NBA rookie minimum salary, prorated for the days with their NBA team, for maximum potential earnings of $385,000 next season. Think of 2 way contracts as players #16 & #17 on 15 man NBA rosters. Their pay scale gets prorated based on how many days he spends in the NBA...which is capped. It's somewhere in-between a signed player and an unsigned player.
Burton and Niang recently had 2-way deals. You can't do two way deals after 4 years of service
The sorta downside with 2-ways is you can't sign the somewhat lucrative 10 day contracts, and one team owns your rights and other teams can't call you up.
Overall though, this is pretty huge for TC.

Overall the Nuggets are pretty stacked at forward. Obviously Joker is playing 30+ every night at center. Then the Nuggets have veterans like Millsap and Plumlee...and also high ceiling young talent like Michael Porter Jr and the Vanderbilt dude from Kentucky.
Still though for TC right now none of that really matters. He just needs to develop.

I can't remember, but I don't think so. Uthoff had that 2 year deal with the Mavs but it got waived when the Rockets went for Chris Paul. He seems to be trying to avoid signing any sort of non NBA type deals from what I've seen (Europe and G league). It's interesting strategy but this is all uncharted territory for everyone right now.
