Tweek the lineup!

Certainly is a lot of passion to see Gabe play 2-3 min a game over seniors that I'm sure work just as hard in practice in hopes of seeing the floor in their final year. Also, I'm sure Fran and the team think that they can win the rest of their games(at least I hope they do). That doesn't mean they are going to but it certainly doesn't mean it can't happen either. Saying that they aren't playing for something simply isn't true.

Huh, Olaseni in the game in the first half. I guess I don't know what the hell I am talking about huh sioux, section136 etc. I guess me and McCaffrey think Olaseni can help the team.

Wow, what a contribution. Didn't get him much time in the second half did it.

Sorry to doubt you double HH. Hey wait I'm not falling for your Jedi mind trick. You also forgot got lost on defense twice and got in Marbles way causing the ball to careen out of bonds off his foot.

Marble as the PG, should not dribble up his guy's back. Olaseni has big feet, can't blame him for that.

And McCabe fouled out (again) with 2 points and threw the ball away at a critical juncture, but he deserves to start and play major minutes?

Wild Bull Humus agrees with me and that's all that matters because a guy on a buffalo found a baby in the weeds.

Have you had a look at McCabes stats line the last four or five games? Yes he had a bad game tonight, but not starting him is crazy.

23 points the last 5 games and probably that many fouls as well. 0 against NW and 2 against PSU....two teams that one would think he could score a few points against.

They have to start him because there isn't anybody else.
BTW, in the last 5 games he 's averaging 5 pts. 4 rebounds , 3 turnovers and 4 fouls. The last 2 games 1 pt. 2 rebounds, 3 turnovers and over 4 fouls.

HAHA...nice to know you were thinking about me.

And Im sure that the 6 minutes Gabe got while we were getting smoked are really going to "help him down the road", which was your reasoning for giving him more PT.

I have nothing at all against Gabe and think he could have really used a redshirt. That being said, Gabe is going to improve more with practice reps than he is getting thrown to the wolves in a game.

So do you honestly think that Olaseni deserves minutes that are equal to or greater than McCabe's minutes?

Uhh what? What makes you think Gabe should be in over McCabe?

I used to doubt McCabe as much as anyone else... but he has proven he should be out there. McCabe hustles and he plays hard. He is also more versatile than Gabe I believe. I might be wrong... but I don't think Gabe is dangerous from beyond the arc or from range.

Again, I could be wrong... but it makes it hard to stay out of trouble as a big man when you have to play so much help defense because the guards are getting diced and beat.

When you have someone like Frazier or another quick guard driving to the hoop after they beat their man... It makes it pretty damn difficult for a guy like McCabe to shift over in time to take a charge or get straight up without either:

A) Allowing a fairly easy bucket.

or

B) Pick up the blocking/shooting foul.

He is aggressive and I would rather see him play hard and foul out because he is working his *** off, playing physical, and being aggressive than to see him go an entire game with 0 fouls because he isn't playing D.

Granted, McCabe does pick up some bone-headed fouls, but he also picks up some that I think are questionable that players get away with a lot of times.

Either way.. McCabe gets the nod over Gabe at this point and he has earned it.

I think running McCabe out there to replace Brommer as our resident foul magnet is absurd. The kid plays with grit and hustles, but lacks virtually every tool necessary to play significant minutes in the big ten. He is undersized, can't jump, can't create his own shot, isn't capable of playing in transition and makes awful decisions with the ball.

Regardless of whether Olaseni knows all the x's and o's, he is 6"10 with a 7"4 wingspan and runs like a deer. Is he raw? Most definitely. But again, what is this team playing for? At this point, absolutely nothing except next year. McCabe scored a total of 2 points against two of the least athletic teams in the big ten (NW and PSU). Draw your own conclusions from here.

I am not advocating starting Olaseni over McCabe, just stating that, IMO, Olaseni needs to get some of his minutes, as he isn't producing and Olaseni needs reps.

McCabe creates his own shots quite well actually... He also creates shots for others. He sets good, hard screens and provides a physical presence down low. He isn't super tall or going to dominate every night, but he doesn't allow bigger guys to push him around either... which is why he gets a lot of fouls called on him. He can either let them shove him out of the way and pick up the easy bucket... or challenge and play tough D, which CAN end up with a foul as a result. I choose the latter.

Not saying Gabe isn't going to be good or would just do awful out there.. but I don't think he deserves any of McCabes minutes at this point and I actually thought Archie did a real nice job that one night when he had that huge dunk. He plays with a lot of passion and energy, which this team really needs at times.

I will say that I think both Gabe and Archie deserve to go in before Brommer though. I think they both bring more to the table and they have the ability to bring in some energy off the bench.

But again... We aren't playing for nothing. No one on that team believes that and we shouldn't believe that as fans.

We are playing for absolutely nothing? Since when?
