Tucker arrest on Lick???

I am a supporter of Lickliter as many of you know. However, when the transfer rumors came up, I started to wonder if he would make it through this season if the transfer took place. If his own recruits start leaving, then yes, I think there is a problem.

Will this recent Tucker arrest and if you believe the alleged facebook post by Tucker that he is outa here, will this all fall on Lick??? Where does the off court responsibility begin and end with the coach?

I am on the fence right now!

I don't think this is on Lick, I think Lick gave him a pretty stiff punishment last time so either Tucker has an alcohol problem and needs help ASAP or is just plain stupid and didn't learn his lesson from the last time.

Either way Tucker is probably gone at the end of the year if not sooner and if others leave as well, then Lick won't survive next year IMO.

Lick could use this a reason for why Tucker would leave now, but the fact that he was rumored to want to leave before this won't help.

You can't watch these kids 24 hours a day, nor should you. This is on Tucker, and nobody else. You go to college to grow up and become an adult. Babysitting someone 24 hours a day does not accomplish that. I could see this coming down on Lick if more members of the team were getting into trouble, but this seems isolated to one person.

It'll be interesting to see how Tucker handles this. Will he bash the program now? Will he say he was going to leave anyway?

It all comes down to personal accountability.

It certainly does.

However, Lickliter has not gone a year without players leaving the program and it likely happens again this season when he havent even hit the start of the big 10 conf. So while the Tucker situation is not Licks fault he continually loses players. Folks this program is dead right now and Lick has done NOTHING positive to change the course.

Lick's recruiting in Minnesota was a failure -- one's a bust, the other a drunk who has no regard for his team

Surely it is not all on Lick. However shrugging it off and saying that he has no blame like some of you are is wrong as well.

I still think it's too early to jump on Lickliter.

What has happened in 3 years that gives you hope and more importantly should give Lickliter any kind of slack?

Do you dispute Iowa basketball being in a very bad situation currently? This is the worst in 70 years.

I thought Alford was the one that recruited kids like this. These things were blamed on Alford. Why not Lick? Why the double-standard? Problems with the football program were blamed on Kirk. I don't know how Lick escapes this when the other coaches get blamed.

Have to fully agree with most of the posts here.

This one is on Tucker. Coach did what he needed to do under the circumstances last year but the young man apparently didn't learn his lesson.

Hate to see Tucker go as I believe he was an asset to this team and could have been even better in the future as the players jelled together and he learned where to spot up and get his shots but at this point I really can't see how he stays.

Just hope he gets whatever help he needs so he can get what on the outside appears to be a problem under control.

This isn't the first time Iowa has dealt with this in the last 3 year.To say he (Lick)doesn't have some accountablity is wrong.

All signs point to a pretty good recruiting class coming next year.

"Last year we had 2 players dealing with this. This year count 1.. To say he (Lick)doesn't have some accountablity is wrong."

Agree to disagree I guess.

We crucified Alford for things like this. Lick can't babysit them 24 hours a day but he should insist on commitment or show them the door. This is twice in less than a year.

This is the right answer spank. People trying to blame Lick for an individual's transgressions are just plain stupid.

No one is blaming Lick for his actions. They are blaming him for bringing in idiots who act like this.

Big difference. Lick was supposed to be the nice guy who brought in nice guys that the people of Iowa could feel good about.

That was Lick's entire vibe when he got here. He was going to "change the culture".

Lick is responsible for this program, this kid is his responsibility, so its on him, like it or not. It may not seem fair in that you cant hold a kids hand 24/7, yet, you brought him here, you set the standards for him to abide by, and last year he came up short, now you gave him another chance and he failed, so its on you, hes your charge. All coaches deal with this, its part of the job.

As for Tucker, it makes me wonder if he ever really quit drinking, and this was the time he got caught again.

In regards to the Minnesota recruiting failure comment, I think its not a fair to bring the other kid into this, as he has appeared to be a model student and citizen, and with many bigs, they develop slower and since he is a sophomore, I think its early to write him off as a player, Jepsen, Lohaus, and others came on later.
