Tubby Smith:‎"This may be the most disappointing loss of my career."

It's funny....Our team gets crap, much of it from our own fans, for not being athletic enough. Minnesota has a buttload of athletes. What they don't have, that we do, are basketball players.

if you don't have a bag of cash and a secretary who will write some term papers, you're not going to do much at minny.
 












I will never forget Lick's last regular season game at Minneapolis. The Gophers were ahead by over 30 points and he had the starters in until the last minute or two......

I have despised that pig since then. He deserved the slaughter he suffered today too, of all the teams, IOWA......

Beat him like a rabid dog, just like Ohio State......

Agree 100% what was he expecting when they snuck away with a win at their place. I will admit I was shocked the way we responded down 21-6 and was amazed at how much trouble they had against the zone. Still wish Iowa would play a full 40 minutes, but absolutely loved the effort tonight lets hope it follows us on the road to Nebby.
 


I think this might be the loss, more than any others, that does him in. Wouldn't be surprised if he loses his team completely at this point. My guess is Shaka Smart will be the next coach.
 


I actually kind of believe the statement. His team seemed to quit on him and maybe he is seeing the writing on the wall that he is pretty much done there. So by that respect he could easily be telling the truth. Iowa won the game and dominated but minny seemed to show no fight and that says something about the coach.

Minny's new AD, Norwood Teague, came from VCU where he hired Smart.

Up here (ya sure you betcha) the two names being tossed around are Smart and Flip Saunders. Word is, Saunders would love the job.

I've said it before and I'll say it again .. I've never been impressed with Tubby as a coach. If he were any good, he wouldn't have been run out of Kentucky. His only serious claim to fame is the national championship he won there in his first year with someone else's recruits.

Minnesota has better athleticism than Iowa. Any coach worth anything would have done better. Not just yesterday, but overall.

What has surprised me the most about Minnesota is the lack of depth on their roster. Williams being injured has killed that team. The only decent player they have off the bench is Eliason. Ahamisi and the other guys they brought off the bench were absolutely terrible.

Be careful, truth is under appreciated around here.
 


Between the collapses Tubby has had in B1G play and his practice of routinely throwing his players under the bus, his days in MPLS are numbered.

He probably would have been canned last year if they didnt make it to MSG without Sampson III and people saw that he had that entire team back plus Mbakwe.
