Trump supporters, how do you square this?

I haven't heard a single MAGA enthusiast complain about groceries, gas prices, egg prices (that was the big one), insurance, and on and on and on.... for at least a month and a half. It just disappeared...

Well it's obviously too early to complain about prices under Trump. What's way weirder is dems didn't complain about prices for four years but start complaining the day Trump gets in office. That game is played by both sides tho so it's not something I get myself worked up over.

Did they really not applaud for the kid with cancer? I haven't watched any of the address.

Trump is good at putting Dems in positions where they look like assholes to the majority of people.
They didn't. But it was clearly a case where they got together and decided their actions beforehand so really not a big deal as it's being made out to be. That's probably something they should have adlibbed on in hindsight tho.

Green was pretty clear in an interview (just as he left the chamber) that he was very willing to take any punishment, and that he was trying to get people's attention about Medicaid. He was very intentional and used the outburst as a vehicle to get the spotlight to talk about his fears that Medicaid will be slashed.
Any politician who is willing to get in trouble over what they believe in is admirable, and that includes this. It does however eliminate the argument that he got kicked out but the women last time didn't.

I didn’t complain about inflation because the world was dealing with it, and the US navigated it better than most countries did. MAGA won’t look further than Fox or whatever Trump propaganda news they tune into.

These were the same people that gleefully shouted "Let's go Brandon" when post covid inflation was raging throughout the world. They also put Biden stickers on gas pumps where I lived.

Trump's #1 campaign promise was "I will lower prices on day one." It was a pretty big lie, knowing he was going to enact tariffs that will increase prices. But, in the grand scheme of things, he's told a lot bigger and more damaging lies. So, no big deal, right?

Somehow, amazingly, the MAGA acolytes now seem to say "well it's some short term pain but worth it."
Man I wish I could lead such gullible followers.

These people also talk about the federal deficit. Watch this space. It will grow by a lot. You can't slash taxes for the wealthy and make some marginal cuts to small (in the grand scheme of things) government programs and have a net reduction in the deficit.

So, in short, under Trump, prices won't go down quickly, as promised, and the deficit will continue to skyrocket.

I'd be thrilled to be wrong, but I don't think I am.

That last sentence is just another example of it goes both ways. When both sides are equally guilty of something, it's kinda pointless to bring up.

The good thing about the deficit is its a number that can be watched. The bad thing is when one random judge can stop anything a president dies, it's going to be tough to cut anything. The issue with taxing the rich more is we are talking about billions of dollars. It wouldn't even dent the trillions. There isn't an amount of taxing that can get us out of this. There has to be less spending. I do understand it's easy to yell "take more of someone else's money" tho.

I'm about to get two tvs going. Let's love each other for the next few hours! Go hawks!

tRUMP/GOP is winning the social media game

This nasty video was viewed more than 100 Million times

The effort was part of a new administration strategy to transform the traditional White House press shop into a rapid-response influencer operation, disseminating messages directly to Americans through the memes, TikToks and podcasts where millions now get their news.

I did a little checking, and it looks like the total amount of revenue brought in by the federal government by income taxation was $2.18 Trillion dollars. According to this site https://www.ntu.org/foundation/tax-page/who-pays-income-taxes the top 10% of earners pay 76% of all income taxes.

Therefore, the top ten percent of income earners paid $1.658 Trillion dollars last year in income taxes. That's much, much more than a few billion, fwiw.

Others, feel free to fact check this. Happy to be corrected, but at least we're trying to discuss actual numbers.

PC explanation of how taxing the rich is bad coming in 3...2...1...
I'm just trying to invite attention to the idea that slashing taxes for the people who pay a lot of taxes won't "balance the budget" and that cutting some federal employees (some quite necessary) won't get us where we think we need to be.

Honestly, with the tax cuts for the wealthy and cutting services, all we will get is a country that still has huge debts, while the rich get richer and the poor have harder lives. Is that making us great again?

Honestly, it's probably a values/morals/philosophy question for all of us. What kind of country do we want to live in? I'm doing fine financially, but I don't want to be a rich person in a third world country.

I hear we're about to slash tens of thousands of jobs in the VA system. These same people (MAGA) wave flags, talking about supporting veterans. I'm a veteran and I find the flag waving done by people who never served, and cut benefits to veterans to be really annoying.

Don't get me started on what happens when they slash Medicaid. I hope you rural Iowans feel okay about rural hospitals closing.

As we ponder our national priorities, I really wish the Trump administration would move on from "punching down" on vulnerable people like Transgender kids and adults. These are actual people, and there are consequences of hate:

This is one of the most important issues to me personally and why I despise tRump so much. He's morally and ethically corrupt and no one could convince me otherwise.

I miss the party of McCain or the Bush boys were you could disagree with what their policies were, but knew what they're trying to do in most cases was to do the right thing.

Yes you are right. If your home is run by a corrupt unethical lawless individual it will eventually fail. Your business, your church, whatever it is. And people in these places will be corrupted to be the same as their leader, others will revolt. You cannot be successful long term if that is how you run. And even if you could be, I wouldn't do it either way. Here is a French politician saying it like it is. This is the honest depiction of what is going on in the USA today.

Good numbers. But I was talking more about the number that would be added to what they're paying now. You would have to confiscate at least double from the rich to even balance the budget. That said, I would have thought it wasn't even possible to tax the rich enough to balance the budget, but your numbers show it technically is possible. It also hurts the argument that the rich don't pay their fair share. The way democrats talk they act like the rich don't hardly pay anything.

Duh. Of course you tax the rich. Evidently to the tune of 76% of all taxes. Is that fair share enough for you? If they taxed double what they pay now to balance the budget, they would pay roughly 3 trillion of the 3.5 trillion paid. But hey. It wouldn't be ou money they were wasting tho so who cares right?
