I'm generally curious to know who knows someone who was healthy and unvaxed who died from covid. I personally know two people who know someone young that died. I don't know if they were vaxed tho. I feel like one of them died before the vaccine even came out but I can't remember for sure.

One was un-vaxed and 51 years old. Very active outdoorsman and died about a year into it, nothing else wrong with him. Another was an older neighbor of mine - mid 70's - but had nothing else wrong with him, un-vaxed. The others I knew, I couldn't tell you if they were vaxed or not. All around a year or so into covid.

Hard to say other than everybody reacts differently to certain things, whether it's medicines, vaccines or peanuts. Some things are just a mystery.

No one should've been forced to take the vaccine. And before the flaming starts, I voluntary took both courses of it the first time it came out. I've had covid twice and both were after the vaccine. I have no regrets about taking the vaccine, either.

The covid thing just gets used as a political weapon by the left and right so they have something to argue about like you guys are doing now.

If you were afraid of getting sick, stay home. Almost every person killed by covid was overweight and had preexisting comorbidities. Basically, if you chose for your entire life up to that point to eat Big Macs and soda, smoke, or didn't keep yourself relatively fit by at least walking a little everyday you were at risk. Those choices aren't everyone else in society's fault. There were some healthy folks who died of covid, but there are with literally every respiratory virus.

It wasn't worth (and still isn't) bringing society to a halt. Kids needed to be in school. People need to be able to walk up to others and talk to them with their faces showing if they both choose to. Humans need social activities like sporting events and computer club and to be able to go hang out with friends. Have any of you seen one of the myriad studies showing what happens to people's permanent mental health when they're totally isolated from other human beings?

It's a personal responsibility thing. You use data (not emotion) to decide what the risks are, and then you take the risks you are comfortable with. If you decide it's too risky to go out in public you stay home, with the added benefit that if you do that then you don't have to worry about someone without a mask infecting you.

Every single respiratory pandemic in history has shown us that it works its way through society and no matter what precautions are taken it can't be stopped. And then it eventually becomes just another cold virus. Like the Spanish Flu did, and like covid 19 did. The data also showed that if you are even remotely fit and healthy you have almost zero risk of dying. Those two points right there made me not worry even a little about it other than the harm we were doing with mythical "social distancing." I shouldn't be prevented from going to work or Walmart because someone else lived off of bacon, Mountain Dew, and cigarettes their whole lives and never took a walk.

This. This. And THIS. My opinion was the same 4 months into the pandemic as it is today. For the most part mirrors yours. I don't even get how anyone can have a different opinion especially today. I'd be curious to know the percentage of people who were obese and scared during the pandemic actually changed their lifestyle because of it. I'd be willing to bet the percentage is small.

I guess that's good news for people who fear mass deportation. The article said the government has no interest in that plan and there's no evidence that shows Trump is even deporting people at a higher rate than Biden did.

Just out of curiosity, was it incredibly impressive how fast Trump got the vaccine out? Or did it have nothing to do with him because he's the president of the United States, not some vaccine researcher? Here's a him. If you think Trump could have affected covid spread as the president, you should definitely be extremely impressed with his vaccine work.

I was impressed with how fast he worked with stakeholders to get the vaccine out to people. I was very briefly encouraged by this.

Then, he seemed to embrace the "anti vax" crowd and then ultimately hired RFK in this administration, which seems to move us in the wrong direction, IMHO. I think Trump is very skilled and weighing how his actions are perceived, which is somewhat different than always trying to do the right thing. I give him credit, he's good at that.

Correct. If you are kicking them out because you don't like them, that's wrong. But if you are kicking them out because they're bought and paid for, them that's good. Considering some news outlets were getting paid by USAID, I'd say that's proof that they're bought and paid for.

Democracy in anyone's image is not a democracy. An entire branch of government abdicating it's responsibilities is a breach of the oath taken by those in that branch, I'm speaking you you Congress. There is no oversight of what is going on today. Giving these rights to the Executive Branch is not congruent with the clear words in the Constitution:

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; . . .

And on establishing laws

I just posted evidence a couple posts ago. The crazy thing is conspiracy theory might very well change here over the next four years. If a bunch of corruption gets uncovered and becomes mainstream knowledge, you won't believe it, therefore you will be a conspiracy theorist. Not letting democrats decide who their candidate is in two out of the last three elections is pretty unconstitutional. Changing laws to go after a political opponent is unconstitutional.

People talking shit about getting information on X is so short sighted. For one, I've read lots of articles from lots of news sources. I don't see how those articles have credit if you get them from their specific website, but lose credit if you get them from a link from X. Secondly, a lot of what I see on X is actual congressional hearings where Congress is discussing the subject at hand. There isn't a better "straight from the horses mouth" than that. Thirdly, people act like Musk has owned X for 30 years. He's owned it for a few. I've been on X a lot longer than that so I used to get all my info from Twitter before any Musk influence. Now to be fair, the last 4 years I've strengthened the opinions I've already had. But I attribute that almost entirely to covid.
