Trump supporters, how do you square this?

Is the fear mongering really that bad that people think twitter is going to be abolished by the secret society, effectively ending the free world and access to information as we know it?

Christ on a crutch.

If I have to quote your post insinuating that exact thing from you I can…
Hey, at least I got my info directly from the source. Zuckerberg admitted to censoring Facebook per the FBI's request and Harris said we have to do something about Musk and Twitter. You would know those things if you ever used Twitter. You would also know everything Musk discovered when he bought Twitter. But admittedly, that's not the direct source so that could all be invented by Musk and Matt Taibbi. But you know all of that too. Because you scroll Twitter. Suuuuuue buddy.

You would have to go all the way back to 2020 to see what government controlled censorship did to the country during covid, pre Musk owned Twitter. People were kicked off social media for spreading "misinformation" about things that are now considered fact. But you know that too Fry because you scroll twitter and listen to Rogan.

Public schools are failing

There are too many distractions especially with smart phones

It might be difficult for preteens/teens to concentrate on whatever lessons are attempted

Teachers have their hands full

The Divide has no barriers

Less money is directed to public schools and seems to be concentrated on private schools
Good post. I agree with what you said, so I'm not trying to go against what you are saying, but since you brought up education so I thought I'd use this as a way to share my views as a teacher (and do some venting after the last week and a half I've had).

I don't see much difference in students today as I did when I started teaching 27 years ago. The biggest difference isn't the students but the parents. When I started, you didn't have to worry about the parents unless you let their kid slack off or get away with something. Now, I'd say less than half of the parents of the kids are like that.

It's all schools, not just public schools. The difference between private and public schools is the SES. If you remove the low SES kids (those that qualify for free or reduced lunch), the NAEP scores (national standardized test) are identical. In talking with teachers and coaches from private schools, they have the same issues and successes as public school teachers/coaches have.

Cell phones are a distraction, not because they have them on them and want to check them but because they can't bear to be separated with them. My students put their phone in the back of my classroom. I have 6 chargers if they'd like to charge them. You always hear people joking that their teacher told them that they needed to learn to do their math on paper because they wouldn't have calculator with them and now they do. On certain things I teach, I require them to use their phone calculators. They hate it because they don't know how to use them.

One thing you are absolutely correct in saying is that teachers have their hands full. For me it's never been about the kids but the initiatives that are handed down to us that we have to work through and show progress annually. These people sit in their offices, most of them because they couldn't make it as a teacher, and come up with ideas that would make us better teachers and will make little Johnny into an Ivy Leaguer. You know Johnny. He's the kid who hasn't eaten anything since school lunch the day before and hasn't changed his clothes if a few days. Yeah, his biggest worry is trying to find x. Get rid of that damn US DOE. I don't know if that statement pisses off the left or right, because I'm sure one side wants it and the other doesn't. I don't give a shit, just get rid of the damn thing. Schools don't need more legislation. That's the biggest problem with schools. It's like me saying that the University of New Hampshire football team needs to blitz more often. I'm right because I've coached FB for 27 years. I don't know anything about their program, but they need to do it because blitzing works for some so it must work for all.

Also, in no way am I saying my job is tougher or worse than anyone else's. I really do love my job and can't see myself doing anything else. There are just a lot of "imperfections".

The best way to get past tough weeks is to catch some fall walleyes and northerns like the ones I caught last weekend. Made me anxious to get back to school and compare pictures with my students. Nothing like spending time swapping fish stories with my students on a Monday.

Your obsession with twitter is mental illness. I don’t know any other way to say it. Jim Jones had the same effect on people that Elon Musk has on you.

If Musk posted on twitter that the time had come for you to end it all you’d do it, and that’s mental illness.

You are literally worshipping a human being as being a divine savior. Think about that for a minute. You literally believe Musk is on the planet to save the world, and that everything he says (via Twitter) is absolute truth. Like people who worship Christ, or Muhammad, or Joseph Smith, or Jim Jones. Only instead of the Bible or the Koran, Twitter is your sacred pipeline of divine truth. You’ve said yourself that Twitter being shut down would destroy the US. I’ll go back and quote it for you if you need me to.

Deny it if you want, but quite literally what you’re doing is worshipping a human being as a divine savior, here to save the world if we’d just listen to him and follow his preachings, and that he provides the divine truth through the pipeline of twitter. Mental illness.

I literally laughed out loud on that one. If my posts here insinuate that I worship anything, it's free speech. If the government starts deciding what is true and what isn't and sensors the things they deem as untrue, we're in big trouble. I do dig Musk, but that's some serious hyperhole there.

So since you are a Twitter user, what's your opinion on the Twitter files? Do you think they're a lie or do you think it's no big deal what was going on?

And you've stated more than once that twitter, through Musk's stewardship, is the only true way to maintain real truth.

Again, you have maintained without fail that twitter is the only way to the truth, and that Musk is the all-knowing, omnipresent, sole provider of that conduit to truth.

bible/koran/torah = twitter

god = Musk

Worship, my friend, doesn't have to mean praying to a diety in the sky. You are making it crystal clear your worship a dude in California who you believe is the only avenue of truth in the world through his bible/what have you.

How is what you're saying any different than being a follower of Jim Jones? Honest question. You're taking what he feeds you and drinking it up without even consideration of the possibility that his truth might not be everything. You take what he feeds you through twitter and in his commentary with no skepticism whatsoever. Skepticism is healthy. It's not healthy to follow a cult leader blindly.

It's mentally ill.

Twitter is a social media company, I don't care what they do internally. Just like I don't care what the Washington Post or Fox News does internally. I base my opinions and form my viewpoints on what I see from as many sources as possible and my personal interpretations. I think ALL news is biased and skewed, and I consider that when I form my opinions.

I never said it's the only way to maintain the truth. I said it's one of the only places trying right now. Huge difference there too.

I've been taking it into consideration for four years. You act like I've blindly followed someone just because you don't like my opinions. Also I've mentioned many times in my personal life that it would be funny if Musk is the wolf in sheep's clothing. I think it's a legit possibility. You seriously couldn't be any further off with your presumptions. But I guess that's what you do.

And who the hell is Jim Jones. Don't make me Google it.

This is your savior of free speech???

Yea that would be bad too if he's really going after someone for free speech. That article does read as a bit of a hit piece tho so once again I'd have to see the actual quote they're referring too. If you linked me to a twitter link instead of the article, I could scroll comments for two seconds and find the video the article is referring too. I guess in Fry's mind that would somehow be worse tho.

From a retired, after 40 years as a public school employee, this is an outstanding post.
Thank you!

So have you extensively researched the twitter files? Have you kinda skimmed them a little? Have you even heard of them? Have you listened to Mark Zuckerberg on Rogan talking about how he was told to censor things that were true? I'd seriously like to know if you've heard all about the United States Government censoring social media. That way I can at least know if I'm arguing with someone who doesn't believe it or arguing with someone who doesn't care.

It would be worse because you've shown now for the umpteenth time that everything that doesn't come from twitter is a "hit piece" to you (if it doesn't fit your narrative and assumptions), and you're only willing to look to twitter as your only truthful source. Good lord. This is just way too easy.

And who the hell is Jim Jones. Don't make me Google it.
Are you serious or trolling?

I can see you right now thumbing twitter on your phone to find out who Jim Jones is because you don't trust wikipedia or scholarly articles since they don't have the elon musk seal of approval as canonical literature.

Tell ya what, why don't you Google L. Ron Hubbard, because he's way closer to musk than Jim Jones. But they're both about the same in reality.

Oh wait...I better check twitter links first to make sure it's actually reality.

Good god almighty, man.

Not a Trump supporter as anyone has seen my posts know but his win gave us all some good news anyway. We won't get 4 or more continuous years of lying/bellyaching from Donnie and his "spokesmen and women" in the news about a stolen election, no more stop the steal chanting and we absolutely will not have a Capitol attack in January 2025 and the vice President can relax knowing the gallows is not there for a VP hanging. Two blessings I am grateful for.

He incited a riot at the Capitol to stop the peaceful transfer of power, by telling lies that voting was corrupt, and the voting machines were compromised (Fox "news" had to pay $800M for that lie they helped to spread). He's capable of leaning on people to get what he wants. His followers were yelling "hang Mike Pence"... you think he's not the corrupt one, huh?

Nearly everyone who has done his dirty work has been in jail or on trial (or disbarred). Yeah, everyone else is corrupt. LOL. Cohen, Ghouliani, Bannon, etc, etc. What a feaking coincidence, huh?

I hope our constitution and our democracy prevail, and he doesn't attempt to remake American government in his image.

I hope he doesn't use his power (with loyalists in leading every branch of the federal government) to make fundamental changes to our democracy, but I won't hold my breath. We have not seen a leader like him before in our republic.

Fantastic post. My sister was a teacher and is now a counselor for high risk families in her school system. She would approve of your post, sir!! She says she's pretty tired but fights the good fight each day, but it's getting tougher.
Oh man I've never heard any of that before. Thanks for letting me know. Do you really think only Trump's side has followers that call for violence?

Hey I have heard of that Hubbard guy. Can't remember who he is tho. Scientology maybe?
