Trevor Ruhland

"Pork chop sideburns and black war paint streaking down his face"
.....well, there ya go. He's got a personality. Can't have a personality on a KF coached team. He probably had a Twitter account too.
This. At first glance, it just looks like he is too much of a character for Careful Kirk.

I am not going to second guess o-line recruiting. However, I do get a chuckle out of the fact that a player that ended up at ND has a chip on his shoulder that Iowa didn't want him. It is almost funny that anyone that could go to ND would even care about an Iowa scholarship and would want to play at Iowa instead of ND, especially based upon where our program is right now compared to where ND is.

"I grew up watching Notre Dame with my family, and it’s special to know that one day I will put on the gold helmet and play (there)," Ruhland said. "It’s also only two and a half hours away, and I have a very good support group. I’m sure they’ll be coming, plus Notre Dame’s tradition of winning and competing for national championships. The coaching staff is one of the best in the country and will get the best out of me."

Ruhland, a starter on Cary-Grove’s Class 6A second-place team in 2012, is a three-star prospect, according to composite rankings by 247Sports.com

its a bit baffling. But maybe they already had the recruits at that spot and needed guys in other spots.

I was reminded of what the coach said at the cigar shop said. "You gotta stay with your recruiting plan, even when that one player comes along in another position...you gotta stay with your plan."

I still don't understand it though.

How did Mitch King ever stay a Hawkeye? Aw the ******** people post to try and disrupt. Just flip'n stupid.

I do not think fans are wrong at all about KF not wanting any 'characters' or 'flamboyance' on his teams now. Keep in mind that Mitch King was KF pre 10 year locked contract. Since he got that contract he knows he is golden and everything has changed. It's the I do not want to deal with any issues, try to squeak out 6 victories that's what you fans deserve plan.

The **** some people come up with. Wow.

CJ plays guitar in a band, has long hair, photo with Taylor Swift. Must not be to flamboyant for good old Kirk.

Great that you got a line on all 85 Dullsville players on the team. Lol

So you think they Hawkeyes didn't know about this kid?... Come on! If they didn't offer him a scholarship, there is a reason for that, and contrary to the belief of most of the people on here who post.. and post.. and post, you probably don't know what that reason is.

So you sight CJ as the poster child for your argument? The QB who could not get on the field last season when we needed him and only was inserted this season after Barta had to inform the head coach of an impending fan mutiny. Which is happening.

The proof is in the pudding my friend with our dubious mediocrity including a near .500 record at Kinnick over the the last 4-5 seasons, losing 3 of 4 to really bad ISU teams and multiple MAC losses. We have lost all relevancy. So now we are in the business of not recruiting 4 star legacy players. Ok!

Newborg recruited as a DT

if you look at recruiting services - they list Ruhland as a OG. They list Waecher as an OT. They list one Paulsen a guard, one a tackle, but that was certainly a package deal.

I'm guessing it is as simple as that, a numbers game.

There is only one "numbers game" that has caused the deterioration of Iowa football during this decade.

Yeah. This^^^^^^
CJ was gone if KF didn't give him a real opportunity with the #1 snaps. Which he had not done all year.

As far as recruiting goes I tend to agree with any evaluation Ferentz has about a lineman. His track record is too good in that regard.

Wallace seems to know his stuff. Davis I believe will not be around a whole lot longer. And the improvement of the facilities should help a lot with recruiting. Changes are being made within fort Kinnick and we should see improvement or drastic staff changes in the next year or two.

Why should it matter if the player is a legacy. Would you be fine with a scholarship going to an unrated player who is a legacy?

This thread, like many others just focuses on peoples beliefs about the Iowa coaching staff and how good/bad they are at their jobs. Generally with very little empirical and logical evidence used.

So CJ is not flamboyant. Lol Last year your flock of sheep said he was a long hair and did not have KF approval. Your flock talks in circle.

247 rates him as a 3. MSU passes on him. But the flock look for some news to trash on the coach.

You must be a mind reader if you think he was leaving. Avspeak and the flock said I was a mind reader to think he was leaving.
