Is it pretty much understood that he will be stepping into Easley's spot next year? I see him talking with Easley on the sidelines a lot. My guess is if Easley would go down, Tracy would step in.

That's about as solid of a trio of WRs as Iowa has had in a long time. The offense will be even better next year, even if Fant leaves early.

I am ignorant of this Tracy player, who is he and why is he thought to be a very good receiver in waiting

Don't worry....Shaun Beyer will be the next Noah Fant. And I saw this hit Nico Law laid in a scrimmage. Nico Law is the next Bob Sanders.

Right now, I think max cooper will take easly's spot. But it will be a battle to watch in the spring and summer. And who knows maybe david bell decides to commit

Thank you, I was trying to remember Nico Law's name the other day and was completely drawing a blank.

Both the O and D should be better next year. On D Line--Epenesa, Nixon, Lattimore, Nelson w/ backups Golston, Reiff, Shannon/Linderbaum, Waggoner.

:)

None of my 3 girls will be playing college athletics, I can promise you that much.

I didn't want to annoint somebody the "next X" as we have a tendency to do that as Hawk fans, just wondering what people have heard. I'm hoping with him having 3 games left to play we start to see some more of him when we can. Illinois may be the only "clear the bench" game we have left, so it might be a small sample size.

I could be alone in this, but I would love to see ISM in the slot if he can figure out the whole catch the ball first thing. Smith as one wide out and Lockette or if the football gods will it Bell as the other.

Iowa’s d-line is going to be scary good next year, even better than this year, plus some linebackers with experience and another year of Amani hooker. The defense looked like it could be an all-timer in 2019.

I don't think it's an outrageous thought. They've already considered getting Tracy more snaps and it's obvious they think pretty highly of him as a freshman. Hell, I was excited to get him because his tape shows that he's just a pure playmaker.

That being said, I think Max Cooper is the "heir apparent" to Easley at this time. He's already seeing some snaps as a true soph, and has pretty good speed too.

I think Fant will be back for his senior year. He'll follow in the footsteps of Josey Jewell who said he'd feel as though he was letting the coaches down if he left. Fant's a salt of the earth kid.

I actually think he's that kinda guy too even though it might not show, but he's gonna be looking at a ridiculous payday. Teams are gonna look at him and see the next Gronk. I don't know how he can pass that up.

Fan'ts gone.

His family are a bunch of jilted Husker fans who complain all over social media about how shitty the Hawks are and how he doesn't get the ball enough. His two brothers are the worst but his dad isn't far behind. Jewell wasn't lauded near as high as Fant in his soph/jr year, and I'm willing to bet his parents are a whole lot more down to earth than Noah's douche rocket brothers. Like it or not they have a huge influence on a 20 yr old kid and my money is that he bolts.

Your opinion may vary.

The next Gronk? Slow down.

He still needs to add some weight, toughness and still needs to improve his catching ability.

But yeah NFL guys like all the measurables.

I am concerned how much he is going to get lit up at the next level. He is a big target to hit. Gotta get bigger. Gronk has had quite a few injuries and has probably 30 lbs on him.

I said teams are gonna look at him that way but yeah you said it, the NFL is all about slobbering over measurables and Fant will wow them enough that it'll be tough to turn down sure money. And if they're willing to develop him (like Brian did with Gronk in NE) he may have a higher ceiling.

Hope so. I am rooting for him.

I like Fant. I wasnt disgruntled about Josh Jackson or James Daniels and i wont be about Fant either. It is what it is. If he's a first round grade, he has to go. He will obviously notice George Kittle's success as will NFL scouts and he's going to project much higher. He would be foolish to pass up the payday vs risk of injury. If the NFL tells him he's ready, he must go.
