Iowa currently sits at #145 in RPI. I thought it would be interesting to track this going forward.

Edit: Track Iowa's KenPom and Sagarin ratings too.

We should see some upward movement this week.

ISU plays @ Baylor (#2 RPI). Win or lose this should help.

ND also plays Louisville (#8 RPI)

We also play a road game @ Nebraska (#46 RPI)

Our RPI should improve regardless of the outcomes of these games, it will be interesting to see how much.

I agree. Just interested in how it moves throughout conference play.

If Iowa's resume' ever gets bubbly (which is unlikely), RPI will be important.

Yeah I like the idea of this thread I just hate RPI and how it is used. I'm a KenPom guy myself and I assume most (except a vocal few) are the same

It's absurd how RPI is still such a big factor in march. I wonder if Iowa, ISU, and ND all win if we will sneak into the top 100.

You just said KenPom's AdjD was bogus and AdjD and AdjO are the biggest weighted factors in his rankings

I also thought we were talking about individual defensive stats. I forgot which part of Iowas team you were ripping in that thread.

I said our AdjD hasn't improved really at all while you say our defense has been improving which you said it goes to show it's even a more bogus stat than you originally thought.

I said "if". Since you wouldn't answer Deans question earlier about what it was after the Omaha game, I assume it has improved. But "if" it hasn't, it means his stat is pretty bad. Either way, defensive stats have a lot of randomness to them that can't be calculated. With individual team stats, it is way worse.

I doubt you were calling KenPom bogus the last few years when it had us ranked very well

I'm still not. For all I know, he has the best defensive stats out there. That's like being the tallest midget.

You're the only person I've heard say KenPom's AdjD is bogus or flawed. Why do you think team defensive stats are inaccurate?

Have you ever played basketball? Sometimes you're in the zone and sometimes you're not. Sometimes when you're in the zone it's because the opponents defense is bad, and sometimes when you're in the zone, it doesn't matter what the defense does because they can't stop you.

I think of our late season during Marble's senior year. Our defense played worse but the opponents shooting was off the charts ridiculous like 5 games in a row. Some of it was on us and some of it was random luck. The defensive stats would have showed it all on us.

And sometimes we get lucky and teams miss open shots like Michigan did. It all evens out. Do you dislike AdjO as well?
