Tourney Watching Driving Me Insane!

Where do I start? Watching this tourney unfold is like getting kicked in the nads in slow motion over and over again! Mercer beats Duke opening a potential door for the Hawks to get to the Sweet 16 IF they could have closed out that game against Tennessee!

ISU gets all the glory with their pretty boy coach playing Father Flanagan to his band of transfers. ISU fans react as expected by rubbing it in every Hawk fans face repeatedly (big surprise from a largely classless bunch but still!).

REDACTED rolls into the Sweet 16 by whooping up SF Austin.

Get to watch Wisconsin and Michigan State play on as usual.

What else awaits our Hawks? Player defections? The next coveted recruit choosing a big name team over us (Willie Atwood?). AAAAARRRRGGGH!!!

I want to feel optimistic about next year....because it sure looks like a hell of a lot of fun to win a couple games in the tourney. I would love to experience a last second shot going in for the win rather than bouncing out.

Love my Hawks and would love to see us have some fun next year.
 
I think you hit the nail on the head OP. Iowa needs to start having some fun ballin out there.
Everything this year was just like pulling teeth, and felt like it too minus the novocaine.
 
I am actually looking forward to seeing next year's team with some additions like Dickerson (and Atwood?) while seeing people like Jok, Woodbury, and Uthoff start to bloom....the team COULD be fun to watch and maybe (hopefully) plays less tight....

Maybe I'm missing something in the forum, but where have ISU fans been rubbing it in? On their own board? Hell, seems like most Hawk posters have been congratulatory. There hasn't been any need for ISU fans to come around and point out that they won.

Other than that, though, I largely agree with this post. It's tough to watch Tennessee, Wisconsin and UCLA get to the Sweet 16.
 
I mean you have to be pretty happy for ISU. They're going to go from routing for a good team to a team that's literally in the gutter in just a few months, and since Fran has been here he's done nothing but close the gap with their basketball program. I expect Iowa to be a better less selfish team next year too.
 
Better get used to it because it Likely be the same next year. Iowa State will have good talent make the tournament and probably make a run. ditto on Mich State, Wisconsin, and UCLA.
I would like to think Iowa can make the Tournament next year but I think it is unlikely. Unless we get some surprise recruit that can make a big difference I just dont see the returning talent going further than the talent we had this year?
 
Yes, Iowa let a great opportunity slip away. It's pretty safe to say that Iowa would be on their way to the Sweet 16 with a matchup against a team that you beat by 20 and split with in the regular season.

I know a lot of people here are probably ****** at Fran, but you have to keep in mind you're 1 pt away from a great shot at the Elite 8.
 
This has been a tough one to get over. It was all right there for us. I am trying to get into the Clones and root for other BT teams.
 
It would be nice to still be playing, but with what Fran is going through with Patrick, it is probably for the best that he's home. Get all that figured out and come back next season with a chip on their shoulders.
