Iowa is very undisciplined this year on both sides of the ball. Iowa has made a lot of mistakes on both sides of the ball. Add that to a defense that has NO pass rush whatsoever and that the defense is not changed one iota (although we have blitzed a few more times this year than past years). The offense completely depends on Vandenberg and he Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde, mostly Jeckyl on the road...add that to an offense that makes many silly and costly mistakes and you have Iowa this year.

A staff that prides itself on discipline and outworking its opponents is/was not capable of it this year.

NE likes good oldfashioned head knocking football in most phases of their game. Iowa simply does not have the personnel this year to play like that...but that does not mean that Iowa will change anything.

Because of the styles of play, NE could put a ringer on Iowa just like MSU did. Iowa is not a physical team whatsoever, especially on defense. Iowa's defense is likely to take a very physical beating this weekend. And with NE's running game, the bend and break defense is going to be on the field a lot Friday....A LOT>

Stick with "Off Topic" board, where you merely look like a politically-inspired "fanatic" versus "Football" board, where you look like someone who has no clue when they post.

IF the Hawks can keep Nebby in 3rd-and-long and force T-Magic to throw on most 3rd downs--like we did, for the most part, versus Michigan--we will do okay. LBs will need to step up in run support, but doing that won't leave us as exposed with a Taylor Martinez versus a Kirk Cousins or Dan Persa (Martinez can hurt with his feet, MUCH less so with his arm).

Defense. And the defense played pretty well in the MSU game too. We lost that one because we gave the ball to Sparty to many times. I'll take the 2nd half of the MSU game any day.

What concerns me is that the O has been turning it over to many times the last couple games. We escaped Purdue only because they coughed it up twice as much as we did. Hope JVB will wear earplugs Friday. I think the noise level changes his perception. Not much noise in West Lafayette, Lincoln is going to be a totally different environment.

It's a safe bet the team the with the most turnovers Friday looses.

Therefore I think as long as the Hawkeyes are in the plus column they win.

Nebraska leads 3-2 against common opponents so Iowa will win to make it 3-3 as all things must have balance.

We lost to ISU and they had more turnovers. We will lose if we don't open up. Nebraska lost to two teams Northwestern and Michigan who run 4 and 5 reciever sets that is evidently their weakness. Iowa State, Penn State and Michigan State stacked the box against the run which we did not exploit and we lost the games

Yes, it certainly has. I hope, for your "sanity" sake, you don't find out what it's like to lose to NW when you have no business losing to them...'cause it SUX.

What surprises me is that, although score-wise and "media-wise", the NU-Wiscy game was a "blow-out", I really thought you all were just a few terrible mistakes from keeping it very competitive. NU coming back to beat OSU seemed "sane", then having Wiscy lose two in a rocked the crap out of the B1G "stasis". I don't think many people expected PSU to be playing Wiscy for the Leaders "title", either.

No one, Iowa or Nebraska should have any business losing to teams like that. With the right prep and solid minded players you dont let those mistakes get the game out of hand.

I don't think there is any grounds for the transference rule between Iowa/Nebraska. Both teams have been irratic at times this year. But if you break down the teams, Nebraska has a definate edge.

They are bigger on both sides of the line than Iowa is. They have more overall experiance. Burkhead is probably the best back that Iowa has faced this year. He has size and can move once he gets the ball. At QB, Vandenburg is far better than Martinez. And if Nebraska stops Iowa's running attack, Vandenburg and McNutt can still score. Stop Nebraska's running game and Iowa should win.

It's pretty clear to me that Nebraska has difficulty beating teams with mobile QBs- ie NW, Mich, Wisky, and OSU (until Miller went down) while matching up well with teams that have pocket QBs.
Strange that they would have so much trouble with mobile QBs when they practice against one every day.
