total bullshit calls

Agreed and unfortunately I don't need the YouTube version...saw it in person and despite my best efforts, I still can't unsee that horror. I feel like we beat the officials as much as the Huskers today. So proud of our guys today! Some serious poise under duress!

It was soooo bad, it almost wants to make you tap out. It is like, yeah I will read books or something, get a hobby.

I hate to say this, but Duncan could/should have been flagged for taunting after the field goal since there was 1 second left on the clock. That is how bad those refs were by not calling it.
They really chewed on it for a while after the kick it seemed like, probably only a no-call b/c they knew they had to drive all the way through Iowa on the way back to Chicago.

The refs completely missed a face mask by NE on Goodsen when tracy got the unsportsman like penalty. I surmise they put this crew on Friday and saved the best two crews for OSU vs MI and WI vs MN tomorrow.

Nebraska players sure chirp alot.

How about the horse collar. "The runner was pulled forward". Couldn't find that reference anywhere. The non-grounding call. "#26, an eligible receiver was in the area". When the ball hits the leg of an OL, let's consider "intent", maybe? Another play to Beyer, the DB was grabbing Beyer's Jersey the whole way down the field.

I honestly don't know what was going on. I really hate the thought of officials intentionally "blowing" calls, but...that is the only explanation that makes sense when it keeps happening.

Even after the winning FG, it was like the officials were looking at each other trying to figure out a call to make.

Two other rules that REALLY need eliminated: defenses being able to call a time out up to the very moment of the snap, and offenses being able to have ALL 11 players release from a "set" position and ALL turn to the sidelines for further "signal" from the sideline.

Almost reminded me of the 1972 Olympics in basketball against the USSR.

The Ragaini catch was the worst. And the horse collar non-call was ridiculous. As many have said, one of the worst officiated games ever.

I wouldn't have minded if they had called excessive celebration on Duncan at the end because it would not have mattered. Just more salt in the home fans wounds.

Yes, Can anyone find the rule book entry that says it is not a horse collar tackle if the running back still goes forward????

And you all know that it was and I think still is a pass to an ineligible receiver if the ball first hits a lineman/blocker> Again WTF it was clear as day.

I am not sure how much of a grab there was on Beyer but Nate needs to lead him to the other side there.

Yes, that did that timeout before the field goal try really beat the snap??? I agree that the rule should say the time out has to take place before the kicker turns around to face the LOS and holder.

You are correct, we see this all the time and there can be a lot of unsportsmanlike taunting calls made. Some of the players just make the game weird to watch with all the look at me bullshit.

But it was funny to see a 5' 8' 160 pound guy wagging his finger and waving at the Nebby sideline. He will get a talking to.

And it is nice to see hawks hardly ever do this.

Not only do the nebby players chirp a lot but the get in players faces and make contact.

The kickoff where Marsette slipped the two nebby players got right in his facemask and were talking and making motions, the ref was right there but was gutless.

I have to credit Kirk and staff for not going all Fleck on that crew. I would have lost my mind on those calls especially the no call on Smith Marsette. If the fix was in can you imagine those refs after the game....damn we couldn't have hosed them any more than we did and the Huskers still lose.

Dolphin on the radio said Kirk and LeVar Woods were animated after the second time out and I was freaking that we could get flagged for unsportsmanlike, which would have pushed us out of field goal range.

Even after Duncan connected for real they could have still made some phantom hands to the face call or something like that.

The thing is, it wasn't just a case of "bad calls". In the case of the Goodson play, he got twisted up and is hurt (didn't return). Both Sargent and ISM, especially ISM, could have been badly hurt. And they wave that off as if "intent" or "result" is what matters. How do you review a target and completely wave it off? There was a reason it was called in the first place.

Either one of two things needs to happen: fire incompetent officials and replace them with all-video, or get rid of replays so no official can negate a penalty call.

And as was pointed out, on the "non" grounding call, the first player the ball touched was an ineligible receiver (an OL). You can wave off the grounding, but ignore the ineligible. Almost unforgivable, save for the fact WORSE calls were made an/or waved off/overturned.

That they didn't was damn near a miracle.

Nebby players chirp A LOT. This is good. Iowa will be up for them next year in Kinnick. No worries. Their coach chirps a lot as well. He also loses a lot of games in the BoneG.
