Top-Ranked Iowa Wrestling Rolls Over No. 6 Nebraska

IOWA CITY, Iowa. - The top-ranked University of Iowa wrestling team defeated No. 6 Nebraska, 31-6, on Friday night in the 2021 season opener at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

It will be a fun ride this season. Nebraska has a solid squad and for the most part we rolled.

I was slightly disappointed in Eierman's debut, but we have to factor in that Red is a tough customer, and probably one of the most under-rated wrestlers in the conference. Jaydin talked during the off-season about Iowa's emphasis on pace, and he could have had better pace in the match. Either way, he'll be title contender.

Warner remains an enigma. His talent level is outstanding, but he just can't seem to get over the hump for whatever reason. Schultz is tough, but Warner is the much better wrestler when he's locked in and focused.

Big kudo's to Nelson Brands. It was special seeing the look on Terry's face during the match. Brands is going to make some noise this season and could be the X-factor going into the tourney.
