Top In-State Player 4 Years In a Row

Can't tell if serious or not. They've been OK and will be OK but let's slow the roll down a little.

You don't think Barnes and McDermott would have been a good foundation for a championship calibar team?. How about Paige at point for the last 2 years?

Barnes, McDermott, Tuttle, Woody, Uthoff, Barnes, Jok, Paige.... that seems like a team that might go places.

Yeah, good point. I stand corrected. I totally blocked out Barnes and McDermott.

Well, Barnes, McDermott, Tuttle, Uthoff, Barnes and Paige would have a good chance for the Final 4 anyway.

I believe I just read that Iowa's Mr. Basketball this year is off to Kentucky on baseball scholarship. It is likely too soon to tell who the best player in the frosh-jr classes are.

Being Iowa's Mr Basketball doesn't make one the best playing in Iowa. Oh, and no it isn't too early to tell who the best players are Fr-JR, you can tell by how many D1 schools are recruiting them, and where they stand in recruiting rankings. Now these rankings are fluid and change, but it is easy to know that Conner, Wiescamp, and Patrick are the best players (upcoming Fr-Jr) right now in the state of Iowa.

Rating BB players is much easier BTW than FB players. The ranking services get to watch them play, and there are way less of them to rank.

It's hard not to like where the program is honestly. This next yr will be interesting how it goes with the mix of all the newbies. Which ones separate themselves and get some serious PT. Obviously MG Uthoff and Woody will be the big three they'll lean on. But other then them how big of a jump is Jok going to make? That Jones kid being a stretch 4 should be a perfect fit playing alongside Uthoff allowing him to play the 3 where he belongs but we'll see how he adjusts to D1 ball. Not to mention all those freshman coming in. Should be fun and exciting to see how they fit how the competition in the prime time league goes even. Can't wait to see highlights and hear updates on how that goes.

And the elephant in the room is whether the McCaffrey brothers are really that good or is this all a courtesy rating systems give to sons of coaches?

Just keeping it real and I hope they are the real deals.

The definition of an Elephant in the room is something everyone knows is there.

I don't think most people see this as a legit concern.

I can't see how the guys who do rankings would have anything to gain by doing something like that.

when both parents are former high D1 players it's not a surprise to have athletic kids.

Cyfans are butthurt over the Weiskemp commit. First saying that they didn't want him. Then after TJ offered they're saying Fred wouldn't have offered. Now saying they'll get the kid to flip because Fran and his staff may not even be there in 2018. I find it funny that they're questioning Fran's job security when they're bringing in a new coach who's never coached anything close to a power 5 school or even a lower level school like ISU. They're also saying if Fran had the same results at ISU that he has at Iowa he would be fired because ISU wouldn't tolerate that lack of failure. Of course ISU was committed to McDermott for another year until he left on his own for Creighton. I will admit they would never tolerate even mediocraty with their football program.

God they are the most delusional, egotistical, arrogant bunch of brainwashed morons over there. Never seen a fanbase like them. And why do they think that? Compared to Iowa they are better but somehow they believe they are grouped with Wisconsin, Kentucky, Duke, and MSU. I really don't get it but they look foolish to outsiders as well.

Just read that thread Doc, I can't help but be embarrassed for them. That is some epic butthurt. They are seriously saying getting a five star recruit is a bad thing.

The elephant in the chat room was just the natural question as to whether they are really so good to take schollies away from other more deserving recruits, which most people would consider a fair question. I'm in no way saying they are not worthy of the schollies because I've not seen them play, except for a few vids on Conner.

I read from other posters that they are both really good so that's encouraging and I'm sure this isn't another Lil' Lick situation.

But this is really failed logic.....but I can see why Iowa fans are gun shy. Fran's kids are ranked (or will be) players in the top 100 that every school in the country covets for their basketball program. How is that taking a scholly away from more deserving recruits? If you're in the top 100 you're going to get offers from good programs and they are as deserving as any. That's kind of why I scoff at the notion that they should "walk on" at Iowa to give us an advantage. People love to spend other people money and the fact is, if the kids deserve a ship, they should get one.

Lil Lick wasn't in the top 100 of anything and not a D1 talent, but I can see why Iowa's history would make people cautious... it's just not any where near the same situation.

.
I realize they are top 100 but I think it's just being honest to be skeptical when it's the coach's sons. No problem by me if they play here if they're really that good.

I wonder if it was hard for clone fans to jack off to that poster through their tears?

How exactly is Pemsl the top player in Iowa for 2016? He got some hype a few years ago, but has been hurt for two years now. No one knows if he will even be an all-conference type high school player this year, let alone the #1 player in the state.

Obviously things can change, but it seems like we have a pretty good chance of signing the best in-state player the next four years:

2016: Cordell Pemsl (PF)
2017: Connor McCaffrey (PG)
2018: Joe Weiskemp (SG)
2019: Patrick McCaffrey (SF)

I like that all 4 guys play different positions. Locking down Iowa and getting players out of Chicago seems like a really good recruiting strategy.

Every site I've seen has Pemsl the #1 ranked player in Iowa for 2016, so I guess peeps are going off of that.

Most people rate Pemsl the number one player in his class from Iowa. He probably was the number one player in his class last year when he played on one and a half legs. Hopefully, he will be 100% in a few months.
