Top 5 hawks

Good lord - top 5 is hard. Top 10 is hard but a lot easier than top 5.
I guess that's a good problem to have:

1. Lincoln McIlravy
1a. Ed Banach
2. Jim Zalesky
3. Barry Davis
4. Joe Williams

(and...)
5. Tom Brands
5a. McDonough (when he wins his 3rd this year)
6. Ironside
7. TJ Williams
8. Lou Banach

(how good are you when guys like Metcalf, Perry, Terry Brands, Steiners, etc... are ranked this low?)

When you say Gibbons, do you mean Jim or Joe, or did you even realize there was more than one? And yes, there were more than two, but I only listed the two relevant ones.

Yes, I have met the Gibbons boys. I don't remember which one was better. Jim coached ISU when I was in high school.

Really tough to narrow it to 5. I would give #1 to Ed Banach, much harder for upper weights to compete as frosh and sophs.
#2 Mark Ironside, the most determined wrestler I have ever seen.
#3 Lincoln McIlravy, the most technical wrestler, gotta love that boot scoot
#4 Joe Williams, if he only would have had Ironsides intensity, oh my.
#5 Tom Brands, wrestled in one of the toughest weight classes and always went for bonus points.
