has taken a quick early stab at the probable rankings going into next season with assumptions about certain players leaving for the NBA...

1. IU
2. Louisville
3 Kansas
4. kentucky
5. OSU
6. Baylor
7. MSU
8. Michigan
21. Wis.

Bad news? Top 5 in the Big Ten are rock solid.
The good news? No obvious selection for Big Ten's #6 team.

So, Iowa,Ill,NW,PU and Minny can fight for that #6 and #7 slot and probable NCAA bids.

Meyers Leonard declared for the NBA tonite,so that removes one big man.

Screw fighting for the 6th spot. I think the hawks have a shot to finish even higher than that after all of the smoke clears.

Its a long season. Someone will surprise and someone will disappoint.

This is a total stab in the dark. Way too early to know what teams are going to do. But, makes for interesting discussion.

At this point, the Badgers need the benefit of the doubt..

Wisky wont be a top 25 team imo

as far as their ability to rebuild.

They lose Taylor, which is huge. And Rob Wilson, who played well down the stretch but is very replaceable. But I believe PG George Marshall redshirted this year (others who know the Badgers better can respond). And they have 6-8 Sam Dekker coming in, the Rivals No. 18 player and 5-star recruit. He will give the Badgers a scary dimension. Dekker, Evans, and their bevy of big guys (Bergrenn, Kaminski, Brusewitz and Uthoff, who redshirted), along with Gasser and Brust give the Badgers a number of options. That's a lot of size and experience to go to.

It's always possible they don't locate an adequate replacement for Taylor, but Bo Ryan has (to date) always found capable point guards to run the show for the Badgers.

We beat 3 of those teams last year, one of the twice...no reason we cant at least do that again. We will be better next year. OSU, MSU, UM and Wisc lose some really good players, I don't see them being as good.

The B1G is going to be scary loaded next year.

The B1G/ACC Challenge will be as lopsided as it has ever been in the B1G's favor.

When will you guys ever learn? Andy Katz is a Wisconsin graduate, of course he will give them the benefit of the doubt and they've earned it.

Wut? Katz gives Wisky the benefit of the doubt because he is a Badger alum and then in the same sentence you say they have earned it? Which one is it?

C'mon. You guys lose a lot too. And for all the talk you have about your recruiting class, these guys have top 10 classes coming in.

You may win some home games against good teams in the grind of the Big 10, but I don't think you're ready for the top half of the league. That is a HUGE jump to take, because while your team is very solid, the best in the Big are really fierce.

That's way off.

Michigan 8? No.

If Trey Burke comes back, they will be LOADED. They will have Burke and Hardaway, both of whom will probably average over 15 ppg, plus Smyoritz(sp??) and Morgan returning inside. Then they can just plug top 25 recruit Mitch McGary into either a front-line starter or bench depth, and use top 25 recruit Glenn Robinson jr. to replace Novak. They have another top 100 recruit out of Canada to add immediate depth to cover replace Stu Douglass' graduation.

Again, this depends on Burke returning, but if he does, UM will be better at every position next season.

Dekker headed to Wisconsin is really good. In the All-Star game with Woodbury and Gessel, Dekker and Glenn Robinson Jr. (michigan) were both better than Gessel and Woodbury in my opinion. I agree that you can't count out Wisconsin, they win 20 games every year now. I think Woodbury will be a disappointment in the immediate sense. He will end up being a good player, but he will struggle right away, maybe big time.

Gessel, on the other hand, will be one of our best players. He is a savvy PG, good athlete and has a complete game.
