I moved to Iowa when I was 11 years old and was introduced to college sports in this state right away. I immediately questioned a school calling themselves the "Cyclones". Total honesty with no troll attempt, I've always thought it was among the dumbest school names I've ever heard.

Living up here is interesting, they hate on the Hawks so bad.
That is why I want this game BADLY. Esp. this year, much, much more extra meaning.

Iowa has been held under 27 once, Minnesota has scored more than 27 once. iowa has only allowed 2 teams to score more than 20, while minnesota has only held 2 teams under 20.

so Id say more of an IOWA 31-17 type game just going by the trends of this yr
 


I don't care what you say. Iowa will be ahead of the goofers 2-0 on a first half safety and then with only seconds left in the game will kick a 45 yard field goal, at which point KF will be accused of "running up the score."

Almost as bad as the Freeport Pretzles or the Fisher, IL. Bunnies.

But I believe the Goofs have so much provincial hatred for Iowa this would explain their misguided confidence about this game. This phenomenon goes way deeper than playing sporting events between two B1G rival schools. I would love to see an academic study on this.
 


what happened to that one guy at the old scout board with a name like pantherhawkhatesMN who would have nothing but absolute acidic and vitriolic hate for the gophers?
 


I went there to look at their posts. Of course they have the "Who hates Iowa" thread going. A simple chant for a group of simple minded people.
 


They probably won't get their stupid little chant going this weekend. The Hawk fans I'm sure will be pretty fired up. Surely they wouldn't be stupid enough to try it?

One Illinois high school had a great run in the small school class basketball tournament: the Hoopestown Cornjerkers.

But the absolute WORST school mascot has to be the Upper Iowa Peacocks.

REally this is enough said and it was only a couple of weeks before Iowa put up 4x points on jNW.

In all honesty, I cannot play a flat game with turnovers and have a good chance of winning but I dont see them being flat. But you can never predict turnovers and weird bounces.

I don't get that sense at all and I live in Minnesota. Most Gophs fans I know have already moved on from this season and thinks Iowa returns the favor from last season to them on Saturday Night. Never been to the gopherhole site and won't start now.

How about the Pekin Chinks. They were the Chinks from the '30s to '80. A buddy of mine had a frat brother from Pekin & was given a Pekin Chinks basketball jersey.
 






Wow....reading through those comments there are some highly delusional gopher fans overvaluing their team in this game.


The wife and I went there last year in person. The hate is real. The first hotel we stayed in it only took less than a minute for someone to start saying crap about Iowa towards us. At the game, gopher fans were kneeing us in the back as they went by to their seats. The game sucked, but the minny faithful was pretty rude.
