Took a night to sleep on it...

In the hopes that it was just emotion after the game I took a night to sleep on it before getting on here...And nope...still feel the same way....just pathetic by everyone...and I have always believed Kirk is the man....but tonight is the first Hawk game I have left early in a long time...right after the Iowa defense allowed PSU to score in 27 seconds and then JVB handed the ball over to PSU to allow them to have two drives within 1 minute.

Just pathetic...and to top it all off I had to deal with some jack@$$'s in the seats next to me who cannot hold their alcohol. Between him and the Hawks...I just wanted to go beat my head into Kinnick statue.

Totally pathetic. I'm on the bandwagon now, not sure if Kirk can make the changes to get it done....

Watching JVB come back out in the 4th quarter on TV about made me want to throw up....If he is that much better than #2-#3...how can it be worth the risk to have him out there? It's just dumbfounding. Unless Kirk was hoping he would get injured or something, I just don't understand it with the game out of reach.

Clark posted on another thread that we may not be seeing another option at QB as to avoid a QB controversy.... He may be right...but May we already have one...?

First time we left early too. Disgusting show they put on yesterday. I can't drink enough beer to make me forget that crap.

I left at teh halftime, feeling totally disgusted and depressed. What had been a great day of tailgating fun and anticipation of an exciting night game was completely ruined in 30 short minutes of unbelievably incompetant Ferentz Football.
I desperately want wholesale change to Iowa football, but I'm not fool enough to think anything will actually happen.
*sigh*

Keep your chin up Scorp. You were there. Did you see how much bigger and faster their players were? They were a T10 team last night.

Our D is not that bad, they are just that good. Our O is pretty poor, and they exploited it.

We disagree on how we got here. I place the blame of coaching action about 4-6 year's ago. You place the blame ultimately on the head coach, who is responsible.

Surprisingly, we are probably both correct.

As hard as it might be to do, fans will have to stop going to games and stop buying the Hawk merchandise to force a change.
That's what it took in basketball.

Cody, Jake and C.J. must know they have to win the QB job to start 2013 or they will never see the field. Sad.

On the bright side, I decided to jump on the over (42) at the last minute. Most gambling decisions I make after a full day of drinking don't work out so well, but the Hawks made sure I covered this with ease and I came out way ahead on the day. Go Hawks!

It's time to stand up and be heard. If people would keep on tailgating instead of going into the stadium it would send a message to Barta that we are mad as hell and aren't going to take out anymore.KOK's do this myself but haven't been to a game since'10 Wiscy. I would suggest that people do this for the rest of the season to make sure the message gets thru loud and clear.

So tell me then, G Man, how it is that Bill O'Brien, a first-time, first year head coach, can take a team rocked by heinous scandal and minus 8 transfers (some of them big-time players) and totally dominate and humiliate The Dean Of BoneG Coaches at Kinnick in a marquee night game?
Stop telling me "we'll be alright" and "Davis was a good hire", because it is complete ********. Ferentz has clearly lost whatever tiny bit of magic he may once have had, and it ain't coming back.
The Iowa program is in a death spiral. Denial of this in the face of the mountain of evidence is absurd.
Time to clean house. Ferentz is spoiled milk, and needs to be poured down the drain.

We got change. Some significant change, and the only change you're going to see for a while. I demanded change. I got change. I now have to wait. Most experts put coordinator changes at 3 years minimum. In three years the best you get to see will be red shirt freshamn recruits, and potentially some sophomore recruits if I'm doing math correctly..

This is what change looks like. I hate the results, but this is what I asked for, and now I must wait.

With all the bad stuff that happened at Penn State, the good thing that came out of it was a coaching upgrade for them. O' Brian will build a dynasty there in short order.
It took scandal and death to make a change at PSU, otherwise old JoePa would still be there. What will it take at Iowa?

I'll speak to BoB. If I was a PSU fan, and I saw last night, I'd be mad as hell that PSU kept JoPa as long as they did. Did you see their players Scorp? Unbelievable talent, that apparently JoPa ****ed away the last two seasons he was there.

Think iowa basketball, and our coaching change when the next guy inheritied (sic) a ton of talent.

I just keep telling myself how young this team still is. That's all that is giving me hope. They really showed it last night. Worst player effort I've seen in a long, long time.

As much as it pains me to say it, I actually enjoyed watching the PSU offense last night. Dispite the fact that they were humiliating our defense they were very fun to watch. I'd like to dream that someday we could play that uptempo style. Oh to dream...

Do you see how you made my point for me, G?
A total coaching change made Penn State a much better team.

It needs to happen at Iowa now. Bring in a guy (and a modern staff) that can motivate and coach up the athletes to excellence. A coach who will maximize each player and deploy them based on talent and ability, not loyalty and tenure.

Young or old, in the hands of this staff, Iowa football will be lucky to be mediocre in any given year.

Ferentz had a chance to make real changes to his staff and give the program the shake up it needed and he chose to promote from within on the defensive side of the ball, go the safe route with a completely unexciting, and possibly terrible, offensive coordinator and make sure to get his son a raise. He's made his choices and I think they will lead to his undoing within the next three years.

100% accurate Scorp. Program is in a downward spiral and it ain't gettin better anytime soon. Penn St played a great game but the play of the Hawks had much to do with this. People are already forgetting that Penn St is team that lost their first two games of the season to below avg programs and yet they completing destroyed Iowa. McGloin and the Penn St offense are what I was expecting from JVB and the Hawks offense this year......man was I ever wrong.

Totally agree. It took Penn State only 2 games to get used to New staff and new system. 7 games????

Look at McGloin. He is flourishing in New offense. He has the right stuff and can win a game.
JVB??? Has put numerous hours is study and work into it and he doesn't have the makings of a winner
