Too many players

Well, if not Grinnell, here is the LMU vs LSU (Shaq is in this game) game back in 1990. LMU lost 146-141 in overtime. They full court press, run the fast break, and drop back into 2-3 zone on defense to catch their breath. Paul Westhead had himself quite the team here.

Melrose provided a great article in another post https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...th-25-years-bo-kimble-paul-westhead/24447175/

They made it all the way to the Elite 8 and players on that team suggest they might have won it all had Hank Gathers not died that year.

If the Hawks played with as much heart as this team did (or a Mr. Davis team) and even looked average with fundamentals.....wouldn't that be nice. Worth taking a look at this game.

The only reason it may not work today is the frame of mind of the players. The article points out how the players had to really buy in to the system and how hard they had to work to get conditioned to be able to run that system. Not sure today's "young adult kid" would be willing to do what it takes.

Ya....wouldn't be something if you could get a Phil Jackson type that could get the kids to buy into it.

How many top 20 teams in div one try to play with 10-11 players. It's unheard of. It's ridiculous! I say FRAN"S OUT!!!!

If Iowa split its top ten players for intrasquad game, neither team would be favored. It would go to a game seven. Lots a pretty good college players,
NONE (except JoBo) is giving enough minutes to get in the flow and really improve their game on a consistent basis.
I wish coach would figure out his best 8 guys and the best rotation for them and get after it. Coach is losing a guy like Moss as he was avg. 16ppg than stops playing him. He's a streak scorer, that at times carried the offense as a freshman. Cook is the most talented dude Iowa has had in years, 28+ minutes every game!
Again the ten man rotation is a failing proposition. Hurt some feeling coach and play your best 8 guys most of the game.
