To The Caller Ragging On Ed P

You are an idiot, sir. We are lucky to have him keeping things real in the broadcast booth. You are dismissed!

He said Ed was ragging on the players and the plays. Called the game a loss at one point.

Update 5:58....Shirley called to defend Ed....love it.

Ed is awesome. I listened to him and Dolph today and what he said at the time was honest and true to what was being observed.
I also heard the caller on SoundOff and he tried to kinda back out of it at the end. The lady that called to defend Ed was great.

As hawk fans, we are lucky to have his insight and knowledge. I am so glad to still have the great Zabel still involved as well.

Good post. When Ed isn't happy about something, the playcalling for example, he isn't afraid to let it be known. He brings great insight to the game and always get more enjoyment from listening to a game than from watching it. It was nice back when there wasn't a delay between the radio and the television.

yeah Jon was trying to make excuses for vandenberg (something about the field being wet or something) like he always does... but Ed wouldn't go along with it.

I like Vandy as well. Of course he was not played as he should at this point in his career. Not 100% sure what it is, but I am content blaming it on Greg Davis.... yeah....that sounds good.

Ed is great. He is the only media member who actually tells it like it is because Kirk & the university will cut ties or limit access to the program with an other media member who makes unfavorable statements about Iowa and the fans wouldn't care. If they did that to Ed, Hawkeye fans would go ballistic. So in a sense he has the freedom & knowledge to be truthful.

When you factor in the on air partner EP has to carry each Saturday, he may very well be the best in the business.

Ed usually isn't very critical - but the last few weeks he has been more and more.

He also watched practices a lot (I've heard).

Eddy P is the real deal he tells it like it is str8 truth and nothing else.

Jon D Mil is in the middle.

Dolph is a program apologist, but has too be.

I have no problem with Ed. I was stuck listening to the end of the game on the radio though and Dolph's play-by-play drives me crazy. One time he spent 15 seconds griping about a lack of a holding call and at no time did he say MSU's pass was incomplete. Jebus...call the game first, then gripe!

I dont think Eddy said anything to harsh while broadcasting on air. He stated a few times the nonsense of a five yard pattern when we needed ten and Dolph was right there complaining too most of the times. Dolph brought up multiple times that Vandy was completely missing wide open receivers down the field while he would settle for the underneath man.

Sorry, I hate to be a downer here but Vandy has been horrible. He is afraid of making a mistake and it shows, right now he would rather throw the ball underneath for 5 yards then throw it downfield. This year he has not had that Pitt game where he lets it all hang out and it is frustrating to watch because we all know he has the talent.

I listened to teh end of teh CMU game, and Dolph was just as pizzed as Ed was.

ABout Eddy P, I like him as a personality, but I don't like him much as a color commentator. I wish Iowa would add a second, younger guy to the booth to break down the game(My personal choice would be Julian Vandervelde), and let Eddy play the Dandy Don character he's better suited for.

I asked Ed if he thought the play of the offense was affected more by the quality of defense MSU has, along with the wet conditions, or if they were misfiring more on their own. It was a question.
