Title IX investigation shows Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta is still failing female athletes

gotta love the irony... way to be UofI... pave the way for equality

Psst: it cites 2015-2016. Guess what. Don't look now, but it's 2018.
Do you remember that Barta stated to the press (after the Griesbaum settlement) that he wasn't going to change anything, because the dept isn't doing anything wrong?

Seriously? Why, oh why, do you pretend that this crap is even important? Do you REALLY care about Title IX? Would you if you weren't "required" to?

How much does one spend for equipment for softball, soccer, rowing, swimming, field hockey, versus a football, so yeah I think football is going to skew it. and the elephant in the room is what sport drives that $100M budget? And yet everyone thinks KF should have Iowa at Alabama's level. You gotta have the cash to do that. They mention the football team stays in a hotel the night before games. That's a head slapper. Like that is some huge benefit to the players???? I'd rather stay at my own home if I were them, and there are how many guys and trying to make sure everyone makes it and what their status is (sick, hurt, etc) and yes to make sure a few aren't out partying or getting their sleep the night before as needed. That is just petty crap.

I wonder how the NCAA determines what is fair for appropriations and what is not. Unless there is some sort of formula for applying budget monies to each sport how do you know if you're in their good graces or not?

Sounds awfully opinion based to me.

It has come to my attention that certain members of the Hawkeye Athletic Department have drafted a secret memo detailing allegations of extreme conflicts of interest within the Athletic Department. While the memo has not yet been made public, I believe that the explosive facts contained within it could shake the entire department to its core.

Lol

All I see is that Barta IS making sure all of the women's sports equal to men's sport by firing good coaches and replacing them with below average coaches. If men are going to play sub 500 sports then the women need to as well. I don't see the problem

“The Athletic Department in 2015-2016 spent an average $4,249 per male student-athlete on equipment and supplies, but just $2,012 per female student-athlete"

I'd assume that's pretty normal for all institutions. What costs more...helmets, shoulder pads, knee braces, etc....or a volleyball.

I'm really not sure why everyone is attacking Gary Barta at every turn. Unless he's also doubling as the recruiting coordinator on our Football and Basketball teams...i'm not sure you can lay your misery solely at his feet...but the effort is certainly impressive.

Were they riding mopeds and wearing tin foil helmets?

I love college football, but I hope I live to see the collapse of revenues when the cable television bubble finally bursts and the collapse of college football in general from lack of kids playing the game in the North. The air is coming out of America's love of football and you see it in Iowa's student section and TV ratings. Plus, a lot of parents won't let their kids play. Those feminists will be so much happier when 80% of the scholarships disappear and everyone is "equal."

Is this article for real? You have to spend the same money on girls sports as you do for male sports? Noone wants to mention that football and men's basketball are the only traditional revenue generating sports. Without those sports the are no scholarships or money for a dozen girls sports. I guess that would be equal. Just no college sports anymore. Its settled.

That's pretty clever. Nice work.
