Timeout after Turnover???

True. Ferrell ate him alive. But JO played pretty bad too. That guy seriously cannot find the open man to save his life. Also loved that JVB-esque fast break pass that almost broke White's neck.

How was that a JVB-esque pass? It was thrown well beyond the first down marker.

I'm no basketball mind or basketball coach but JO has become a very effective defensive player given the match up.

Have any of you watched JO on defense? He's long, stays in front of his man, recovers well and helps out on the weak side quite well. You DICK HEADS and no nothings probably didn't notice this.

On the flip side, the O side of major college BB JO is still 1 or 2 three pointers every game to winning the game or putting the game away Along with that he still doesn't take bad shots and can drive to the basket when open.

I agree at times he makes a really bad pass (trying for the home run) and yet has good vision and is un-selfish and a great player for the Hawks.

Shut up DICK HEADS and NO-NOTHINGS.

He played pretty poorly down the stretch. He made one three after the game had been decided. He took a couple of bad ones, did not move well without the ball generally, and made bad decisions with the ball in his hands.

What the coach is looking for...

Love Fran but that was huge turnover that Iowa got with around 50 seconds to go and not using a timeout with 2 remaining was IMO not smart. He needed to take one and talk to his YOUNG TEAM...

Overall good effort by Iowa today, but didn't like that ending..

is whether or not the team can get an open shot it needs in that situation. Iowa did. McCabe got a very good look at a 3. He just didn't make it. Calling a timeout would have been fine, but in that instance you also let Indiana set its defense. What exactly would have Fran said in the timeout that would have made a difference? Get an open 3? That's exactly what Iowa did. Sometimes guys just don't make shots.

There is not right or wrong answer, but I don't disagree with Fran letting them play in that situation. Team didn't look panicked or like they didn't know what to do.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I agree, was screaming at the TV to call a timeout.

yeah i agree - but coaches often dont liek to take timeouts there so the opposition defense cant get set

I'll accept that, but after about 10 seconds their defense was set and we were running around like a headless chicken. That's when he should have used the timeout.

I apologized to the father and son sitting in front of me after the F bomb I dropped after that pass.

I'm OK with the no TO. Any coach worth his salt has already reviewed with his team what they want to do in that situation. To call TO also gives the defense a chance to change up or review what they want to do.
We wouldn't have gotten a better shot than the one McCabe took.

I threw that up on Twitter as soon as it happened.
Iowa did not need to go for a trey there. Call a timeout, get one of the staff's excellent plays drawn up. Get a bucket or get fouled. The 3 ptrs were NOT falling.

Desperately needed a TO there.

Hell, if Indiana switches defense, GREAT! That means they go into zone, something Iowa ate up in the game.

Agree 100%...

As far as Indiana's defense goes, I don't think it was necessarily about them changing from man to zone. But Iowa had them on their heels at that moment, and they were scrambled. You call a timeout, and they can match up with everybody.

Who took that last shot again?

That is why a timeout is needed.

Dude shot 45% last year. You've got to think he'll snap out of his funk eventually, and that was a perfect look. I've got no problem with how they chose to play things. I wouldn't have had a problem with them calling a timeout, either.

I understand that train of thought, but with the game on the line it certainly doesn't make it an easier shot no matter how wide open he was, I would like to have seen a timeout and try for a quick score, foul and extend the game. Of course, I am a fan of fouling a lot earlier when a team is down as long as you can score after fouling, if not, then play defense.

Honestly, since you have been watching Iowa basketball have you seen a player regress more in one year?
