Time to put up or shut up

If Iowa doesn't show up and win this game or many against top of the Big Ten then we are where we were last season. Team hasn't proven they belong in the Big Dance yet. They can start tomorrow.

Iowa has played a much tougher schedule? You're joking right? Line up their schedule against the hawks game by game and it's not even close. Wisconsin has played one of the tougher sched's in the country.

Wisconsin has beaten Florida, Marquette, saint Louis, St. John's, Virginia, UW/Green Bay, West Virginia just off the top of my head. Marquette is struggling but it's a rivalry game as well as Virginia since Bennett played in Wisconsin and coached for Bo.

Their ranking is earned.

Sure, Fla @home early is a good win and StLouis in their tourney another. Otherwise, they have a bunch of .500 teams and you are just being fooled by the 'brand' names:

Marquette 8-6 Home
StJohn 9-5 Home
Virginia 9-4 Road
UWV 8-5 Road

Hawks have played

XAV 11-3 road
UTEP 10-5 road
Nova 12-1 road
ND 9-4
Drake 10-3
ISU 13-0 road

nice try tho!

I have this crazy feeling we win, however if we don't, it's certainly not the end of the world.

Thank you legel, bcl and linesetter for beating me to it.

And just to add to it ... heading into today, Iowa's SOS via KenPom is 276, Wisconsin's is 77. End of story. Not even questionable or debatable.

Very debatable - SOS is meaningless at this point in the season. Iowa SOS is dragged down by beating 4, 2 win teams. Wisconsin has not earned a #4 ranking but it will certainly enhance the meaningless SOS after we beat them

Iowa has played the toughest opponents and Wisconsin has played the toughest schedule. I think we're underrating them. This is the best team they've had in awhile.

I think Iowa is going to lose the game. Want them to win, don't think they will. I think that place is going to be at a fevered pitch. If folks act like its the end of the world if Iowa loses a road game to a team ranked in the Top Five, that;s totally on them

I agree with you Jon, the fact is Wisconsin is really good, I thought Dekker was their best player last season and he is playing like it this year. Losing on the road to a top 5 team is far from shameful, even getting blown out at a top 5 team is not shameful. Sometimes, reality checks are a good thing and I don't see Iowa winning, but if they do, then it is a huge resume builder.

Wisconsin is are really good ball club, they had some addition by subtraction with a couple of graduations. The big guy Frank K. is having an unreal season.

In watching games, the home teams are still getting the benefits of calls. Indiana/MSU game was awful, once the officiating evened up a bit MSU blew them out. Wisconsin is going to get the questionable calls and that is just the way it is.

Iowa has to play with level heads and not make stupid turnovers and have any scoring droughts. I think the key to game is how Dekker and Kaminsky are defended, if they do what they have been doing, Iowa is in serious trouble. Gabe may have to have a huge defensive game against FK. Who defends Dekker?

It is an interesting match-up and if Iowa loses, it is the second conference game of the season. Hold serve at home and big resume wins will be there. If Iowa can go on the road and win, oh my, huge. Any win on the road in conference play, unless it is against the scrubs, is huge.

These are my random thoughts after reading through all of the posts.

1 - I hope Uthoff goes off in this game but expect him to have his normal good game...stay calm throughout.
2 - I think we will win but will not be upset if we lose...quality opponent on the road in conference.
3 - Notre Dame should have beaten Ohio State and did beat Duke today...very good win for the Hawks.
4 - I don't care about SOS either way...Wisconsin hasn't faced the size, length and depth of Iowa.

I don't think there is another Iowa in the country. We have a unique roster and pose unique challenges. Can Wisconsin beat a team with Iowa's strengths? We'll know in about 24 hours.

I'm tired of hearing about the so called "big boys". Maybe this year Iowa is a "big boy"? I look for an outstanding game tomorrow night.

Adam will have two touch fouls quick. I am guessing on that, but would not surprise me and that is why I mention Gabe may have to have a big defensive game.

I hope the ball goes right in to Woodbury the first possession. I want to see what Wisconsin is going to do. Kaminsky thinks he's a 3...not a 5.

Yes and Adam has been playing well of late. I agree with you on Kaminsky, but hey he is playing well this season, that is the kind of big man Bobo cherishes.

The thing about strength of schedule is its based largely on the fact that the teams that we had no chance of losing to are worse than the teams Wisconsin played that they had no chance to lose to. Since 75% of Iowas and wisconsins schedules consist of those kinds of teams, Wisconsin has the better schedule on paper. In my opinion Iowa has played more teams capable of actually beating a top 25 team.

After 13-14 games, yes it does mean something. and when it's separated by 200 teams, it's not even a question. And the tough teams that Wisc has played, they beat them all. Iowa has not.

I think we have a shot at winning tomorrow, but Wisc is deserving of their ranking.

Can't stand the Badgers! HOWEVER, look at Bo's body of work since he has been at Wisky -they just win, year in and year out. I think this may be one of his best teams yet and sitting at 14-0. So, I disagree with you: I think they have earned that ranking so far. However, when the Hawks go into the Kohl Center and beat them by three, they will drop out of the top ten.
