Tiger Woods- stick a fork in him!

jack was a great player but he did it against far weaker fields. he didnt play agaimst the worlds elite like tiger does. hell back them it wasnt uncommon for a player to not play the brittish open because of the travel. now the best players from around the world play on the pga every week. KJ Choi, Angel Cabrera, World number one Luke Donald, Vijay Sing, Padrig Harrington....The list is endless. Go count the number of non us born major winners over the last ten years and do the same for any ten of Jacks career amd get back to me.Tiger is much better than Jack.
Players Jack had to go up against:Arnold Palmer (7 majors)Gary Player (9 majors)Lee Trevino (5 majors)Ray Floyd (4 majors)Tom Watson (8)Hale Irwin (3)Seve Ballesteros (5)Also Johnny Miller, Billy Casper, Fuzzy Zoeller, and a host of other excellent players from that era.Today's fields are deeper from 1-100, but the top 20 from the 60s and 70s are probably better than today's top 20.In addition to Jack's 18 major wins, he had 38 other top 5 finishes in majors. His consistency was astounding.

you just named 10 golfers and your list got pretty weak towards the end. you could name 100 golfers from todays game before you got to someone with fuzzy zoellers ability

Tiger is much better than Jack.

This is true, but it is also a silly argument to compare different eras directly.

Tiger is "better" now then Jack was then, but if Jack turned pro in 1995, I think it is safe to say that their level of greatness would be pretty similar.

Tiger is playing like crap so far today. +1 on a very easy course. Already 6 back of the leader.

again, look at the majors over the last ten years and look at how many were non us players. then look at any ten years of jacks career and try to tell me its even comparable.

That's because at that time the US dominated with the best players, except for Gary Player. It's different today. Golf is a more international game today. Yes I know it started in Scotland.

Are we sticking a fork in Mickelson as well?

Maybe Sergio Garcia, oh wait, you have to win something before on can have a fork stuck in them.

McIlroy? Harrington? Singh?

Why do golf threads have to just be about Tiger? There are other players that have fallen off a cliff much further than him, but yet when he misses a cut...a whole 8 in his career, it is an event.

I have been waiting for the 4-Letter to say something like this: "With Tiger Woods missing the cut, does that jeopardize his Rider Cup spot?"

The guy made a tragic mistake in his life and is trying to move past it. He didn't kill or rape anyone...by no means am I saying he didn't do anything wrong...it is humerous the overreaction to his golf game when he has had injuries and changing his swing. Funny thing is he has missed 2 cuts this year, but would be ranked No. 1 again if he had played in the minimum amount of tournaments...he is so done.

At one point, I felt like he should just keep his driver in the bag and tee off with his 3-wood and he would win every week as he could hit that 300 yds in his sleep and anywhere in the fairway he wanted it to be. That has changed as he has changed his swing and the injuries he has had, but in time he will get back to that point, guy is just too good.

Tiger will break Jack's record, but anyone in a PGA tournament field can win today, it isn't going to be easy by any means. It will just take a little longer to do so.

Maybe it's his arthritis, or maybe you just can't spray your tee ball wily nilly on the links courses into the hay or bunkers and expect to score. You have to have some discipline off the tee.

3 years later...tiger is what 0-12? The fork was stuck in him in 2010. This guy is a shell of his former self and doesnt have the mental toughness come major time.

This thread just got a huge bump. Someone must have had it bookmarked. Yep tiger is scuffling this week, not putting well , he is striking the ball pretty well but you have to make a bunch of putts.

But a lot of great players are off this week. tough if you cant find the fairways.

I would love to see those players at the top continue the great play and have 4 or 5 guys in it at the end

I think the ABT's can rest comfortably and watch what may be a great finish tomorrow. This is a good time to make a prediction so I will go with Justin Rose. Just a hunch for fun. Zach is 8 strokes back but it would be fun to see him get on a roll. NLG

Hi Trapperjon :)

Hi hawk20. You must have been setting up the Weber smoker last week and missed when Tiger lapped the field. Nearest guy to him was 7 strokes back:

And, if you look at the competition it had most of the heavy hitters competing.

Oh, You're boy Phil is 6 strokes behind Tiger as of Saturday in this years PGA championship. You may want to pick a better timeframe next time you want to 'stick a fork in him' again. Just because he hasn't won a major in awhile does not mean he won't. Just a matter of time.

Hey 20, have ya looked at the 2013 money list?

10 16 Henrik*Stenson 13 2,896,003 2,896,003.15

Lapping the field there too. Your timing with the fork is seriously suspect.

Tiger's only played in 11 events to Phil's 16. Try harder.
