Ticket Pricing

Wow, I didn't see this coming. I did figure the that they wouldn't raise ticket prices, but giving $70 in concessions and 30% off for a purchase at Herky' Locker room, is a BIG give away. Seems the Athletic Department understands what kind of challenges they are going to face selling tickets this year.

Fans of the Hawkeyes who renew their season ticket order or become a new season ticket customer by Friday, Mar. 13, won't pay more for the game tickets that they did a year ago - the price of a season ticket for the general public will remain at $395 for the 2015 season and the price of a season ticket for a faculty or staff member of the UI will remain at $325. Fans will, however, receive $70 to spend at the concessions stands at historic Kinnick Stadium next fall and 30 percent savings on all they purchase during one pre-season visit to Herky's Locker Room, the official team store of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

I was just going to start a thread about the start of ticket sales. Gee, I wonder how they will go this year! It will be interesting.

I never intended to buy season tickets this year so I can't answer this question but I'm curious on feed back from any posters that may have been on the fence in regards to renewing their tickets.

Will the $70 in concessions and 30% off at Herky's Locker room have any influence in your decision?

That letter from GB with our renewal forms was kind of funny, I was trying to picture it being read in like a Morgan Freeman voice or something. :D
The people have spoken, myself included, that we don't get any extra perks for committing to 7 games up front. The concession thing is a start I guess. I normally don't use it any way much. I was hoping for a discount rate per ticket or something for buying them all at once. But at least they're making a small effort with the concessions, even if that fountain Coke they are "giving" us probably cost them about 25 cents if that.
Right now I just don't see any reason to purchase my tix this year. I can just buy the games I want to go to and save my $$ on the rest. That is if I want to watch this product at all.

Only if it was beer.

For that matter, just let me bring in my own beer. Limit me to a 6-pack. Limit it to only the "contribution" sections -- we're old and aren't going to get out of hand; hell, half of us won't even stand up during the game. As a nearly AARP eligible adult, let me at least have a frickin' beer while I watch that discombobulation unfold on the field.

Basically buying me a large fountain soda and a hot dog each game isn't going to get me to renew. I don't buy that crap now; well, I do get a lemonade to mix in my Cuervo.

Reminds me of the 2" of retail sale inserts I get in my Sunday paper. My wife thinks if it's 30% off then it needs to be purchased whether we need the item or not............it's 30% off!

I don't think Kirk helped the department's sales campaign by announcing no staff changes.

Although I don't have a dog in this fight I do like seeing Kinnick Stadium full on Saturday afternoons so I hope people take advantage of this. It's a nice incentive although it kind of has a Menards rebate feel to it where the money still ends up in the hands of U of I athletics. It will probably end up costing Iowa about 25% of the $70.00 in actual costs but any money save out of the fans pocket is good money for what has been paid versus product on the field recently.

I'm a glutton for punishment, so we are renewing. This offer will get me to renew early. If anything, it insures that I won't have a spend a dime on concessions this year, most years we probably spend a total of $50.

$70 isn't going to buy me off. Put a winning product on the field and I'd be willing to donate hundreds of dollars, fly to bowl games, and spend tons more money tailgating, etc. In other words just freaking win, and have winning be your only concern and you will never have to discount anything.

If I had to guess I really don't think this offer is going to change a whole lot. Iowa football fans want to see a team that is doing everything they can to win football games. They haven't seen that in recent history. If Kirk changes his mindset and decides to play a bit more exciting brand of football which results in the wins adding up then fans will return.

I'm not renewing my season tickets because I haven't been happy with the product on the field. It's even more frustrating when you truly believe the talent is there to win more football games, but for a number of reasons it's not happening. Until they figure that out I won't be spending the money I was spending on 4 season tickets. This offer doesn't even entice me.

I emailed the ticket office, and they responded that its 70 total for your entire order.

Well then that's just stupid. $70 for a 4 pack of season tickets comes to $2.50 of concessions per person per game. Way to go out on a limb Barta.

Good night!

Read the article in the (I can't remember for sure) CRG or Hawk Central about season ticket sales over the past number of years. The article includes attendance figures, some survey data (very interesting), and a few other comments. I think the concession gift was a sincere attempt to address some survey data provided by season ticket holders. And, yes, I did renew my season tickets (2) for next year.
