Well, let's start with Jake Christensen. He started one year and threw 17 TDs and 6 Interceptions, with a few lost fumble. That is more TDs than all of the Iowa QBs have collectively thrown in the 27 games of the 22 and 23 seasons. Around 53% Completion Rate. The 6 interceptions is 9 fewer than all of QBs in all of the games for the 22 and 23 seasons. QB rating 87.4
Well, we gave Hill the damn ball, for 8 games. Here's what he did with it. Only 48.6% completion rate, 5 TDs and 8 Interceptions. Hill's YPA was 4.6. I'm much too tired to go game by game but I'm thinking at least 7 lost fumbles and -114 on sacks. He usually looked completely lost. He has no touch on his passes, making them hard to catch. He frequently missed seeing wide open receivers.
Jake C Threw for 2259 yards and a 6.1 YPA. Completion rate 53.6% We've discussed the TD/Int ratio. Talk about bad lines, Jake was sacked 46 times with a young and very injured line, much worse than the line this year, albeit that is not setting a high bar. JC's QB rating was 116.9.
So you're right, Hill is nothing like Jake C. Jake was better at every metric upon which QB's are rated.
Hill is terrible. He should never see the field again, barring injuries to at least McNamara and Lainez next season, and I'd gamble on Resar over Hill.
Lainez is obviously much more talented. First game jitters explain the missed passes. If Hill can get 8 games I'm sure we can be patient for a couple of games with Lainez in the throwing department.
