IOWA CITY, IA – Three members of the undefeated University of Iowa football team have been named to the cbssports.com mid-season first all-America team. Offensive lineman Dace Richardson and defenders Pat Angerer and Tyler Sash were picked on the team. They were the only Big Ten players named to the first team.

Richardson is a 6-5, 305-pound senior guard from Wheaton, IL. He has started five games and has been a significant contributor in the Hawkeye line all season. He is back in the lineup following two straight injury filled seasons.

Angerer, a 6-1, 235-pound senior, is Iowa’s leading tackler with 68. The Bettendorf, IA, native was named national Defensive Player of the Week following Iowa’s win at Penn State.

Sash is a 6-1, 210-pound sophomore from Oskaloosa, IA. He has five interceptions this season. He was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following Iowa’s win over Iowa State. He’s totaled 52 tackles this season.

The seventh-ranked Hawkeyes play at Michigan State Saturday night.

Did they have a seperate catergory for pile jumping? I want to see how Wegher stacks up against the rest of the country.

Jon,

First time poster, (and thanks for the new site). In reviewing the first half of the season, how could the leave Adrian Clayborn off the list. He is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm shocked Sash is on the list. With Taylor Mays and Eric Berry both playing safety as well, it thought for sure that those would be the guys at that position. Still, I'm thrilled his is getting his props.

I love Angerer but first team All-American? I think there are a few others that have a bigger impact on defense. Clayborn, Spievey.

Hold up, hold up, hold up...doesn't cbssportsline.com know that Iowa plays in the "slow and unathletic Big10"??? So obviously these 3 players can't possibly be worthy of an All-American team, even if it is just a mid-season team! Not to mention, CBS is the network for the SEC! And doesn't anyone over there watch ESPN??? I just don't get what the hell they're thinkin'....do your homework cbssportsline.com...geez...

Why even go here? Honestly? Can't you accept the props without having a giant chip on your shoulder?

I'm glad Dace is getting some recognition after everything he has gone through during his career. It's a real show of his character to persevere like he has, as I am sure it has been frustrating at times. About Clayborn though, I can't believe he cant get much recognition this year. I've only seen the Big Ten Network and ESPN's Rittenberg talking him up this year. He's been a total beast just harassing QB's and punters a like.
