Three Biggest Keys for win against PSU

Well, Big Ten football is finally here what are the three must for Hawkeyes saturday night in IC.

1. Stop the PSU run game and force freshman QB into throwing the ball downfield, and getting pressure on QB and forcing bad throws first start on the road always difficult.

2. Special teams need to continue getting better, and lets hope we don't need a late field goal for the win not much confidence right now.

3. Iowa OL needs to establish run and give Ricky time in pocket.

If we accomplish these three should be an Iowa win.

1. Don't turn the ball over

2. Get good special teams play

3. Control the line on both sides of the ball

These three things happen and Iowa wins

Penn St has had trouble running the ball against just about everybody they have played so far, and with their freshman QB I have a feeling this could get ugly for Joe Pa.

If Iowa plays a clean game, we win by 14 points or more easy. Penn State can't run the ball and just lost their right tackle for the season, so getting pressure on Bolden will be even more likely.

Unless we set Penn State up with a short field, they will be lucky to reach double digits in this one.

I've watched a decent amount of PSU, and their o-line has been very poor in the running game. They lost their RT for the season.

Saturday night could be a long night for the PSU offense...

May or may not be critical in the PSU game but going forward in the conference season with tougher competition we will need a productive FG kicker. May well be the difference between some W's or L's.

The jury is still out on our FG kicker/s but I was not impressed with Saturday's performance necessarily. Hopefully we'll steady the ship in this area.

1. Establish the run game early. A long, sustained drive will go a long way.

2. Shut down Royster in the first half. If we control the clock and limit Royster to under 50 yards in the first half, it'll put a lot of pressure on their QB to win the game with his arm.

3. Solid contribution from both backs. I know Robinson proved last week he can tote the rock 20+ times but I also liked what I saw out of Coker. Keeping the legs fresh will allow us to keep the defense off-guard and will help us pick up tough first downs.

pretty sure you guys all just summed up the keys to winning EVERY game.

stopping the run game is key to any iowa victory

special teams are always important in many aspects. field goals/extra points, kick coverage, punt coverage, punt returns, field position battle

and obviously the o-line always needs to give your qb time to throw the ball.

this game isn't different from any other game in those aspects.

31-10 iowa

1. special teams show up!
2. run block, run block, run block!
3. limit turnovers/penalties
