Those saying to tamper optimism of Gesell

So you're saying he WON'T be? Just trying to figure out if you think Gesell isn't going to be very good, or if you just like to argue for the sake of arguing.

And yes, I think we all realize that there are no guarantees that ANY player will pan out, regardless of hype.

Did you miss earlier in this thread where I said "Yes, we should be excited that we have a highly ranked PG, which is a position of need, and it looks like we have a good one."

And like I said yesterday, I think there should be space between "I'm excited to see what he can do" and "He's going to be better than Horner/Lester/ Armstrong/ Woolridge". I am seeing plenty of the latter, and it is annoying. Let him play ONE REAL GAME before we put him up with legends.

I am not trying to contrarian like that idiot Hawkfan33 says while playing amateur psychologist. I am pro-Gesell, but anti-stupid. I do not like it when people say stupid things, and I if you say something stupid, I'll argue you on it. If I say something stupid, feel free to do the same.

I'm also anti-stupid, and will call you on saying stupid things, like the bolded above.

If you like to argue when people say stupid things then argue your point on why bad teams can never have quick guards.

Like I said yesterday, after an exhibition game against Quincy, he was, among other things, called the best Iowa PG of all time and compared favorably to Jimmer Freddette and Steph Curry. There is a difference between reasonable expectations and stupid expectations.

Despite what Deanvogs says, people are going to be mad if he's "just" Jeff Horner.

I made that comparison. But it wasn't that he was going to be as good as those guys, but that he was going to have that kind of program changing impact. And I still believe that will be the case.

I watch a lot of NBA basketball. I have had season tickets to three different NBA teams. I understand what happens when you have a point guard that can hit a shot from anywhere on the court. Can beat players off of the dribble and can keep his head up and hit anyone with a pass. It changes everything every other player can do. If you don't crash on this guy, he will put up 30 on you. If you do, you will leave another guy open for an easy bucket.

Everything is going to change. And I am sticking to it.

But, if you want a better comparison, I would go with Bobby Hurley.

GD it CAAR! Ghost said that you need to TEMPER YOUR EXPECTATIONS! BTW did Ghost tell you to temper your expectations on AW last year? Pretty sure you have actually been correct on this board before.....Ghost not so much. :p

No, I'll admit when I'm wrong. You don't need to brag about your NBA season tix to see the obvious. Any defense that does not sell out to stop Gesell is going to get 30 dropped on them. And that is my contrarian, hater opinion. It'll probably be more like 45.

I don't care what state you're talking about...If you are the BEST player in the entire state two years in a row, you're pretty damn good!
