Yeah, wasn't Andre Woolridge Mr Basketball in Nebraska too? He sure did suck didn't he?

Gesell is from Nebraska, he was also the best player in the state. He was also a top 100 recruit in the country and more than held his own on the AAU circuit. This isn't the 1950's, he's not just competed against kids from Nebraska his whole life. All the top high school basketball players have competed against each other for years, Gesell is legit but keep trying to find reasons to not be excited about him.

Sorry Ghost - but you're trying too hard.

The 1989-90 Iowa team had Les Jepsen, and had a losing record. Lick's team's had Seth Gorney and Andrew Brommer. Were they good teams? NO.

If he were just Jeff Horner that would be terrific. That said he is much much better than Horner.

Why not expect MG to produce like Jimmer Fredette? His FR year, he AVG: 18.5 min, 7 PPG, 33% 3PFG, 1.7 APG, 1.1 RPG
Do you expect MG to exceed those number Ghost? You can mark me down for thinking he will.....;)

I do appreciate your concern, but I will manage my own expectations just fine Ghost......

Nobody said he was going to suck because he's from Nebraska. The fact that he's Mr. Nebraska doesn't mean he's going to be awesome. The fact that Andre Woolridge was Nebraska Mr. Basketball does not mean Gesell is going to be Andre Woolridge either.
 


I'll be disappointed if he is only "just" as good as Horner. But that's only because I am so confident that he will be better. I'll be just fine if my expectations don't come true.

So you're saying he WON'T be? Just trying to figure out if you think Gesell isn't going to be very good, or if you just like to argue for the sake of arguing.

And yes, I think we all realize that there are no guarantees that ANY player will pan out, regardless of hype.
