When May scored that basket in the paint for Northwestern (at the 30 second mark), I thought the Hawks were done...we just never rebounded from things like that against the Fightin' Craniums under Alford and Lickliter...
Gus Johnson still sucks. There can be multiple ****** announcers.

It became a running joke.

And later in the half, they did. Called it a "defensive battle" - don't mind the fact that they teams were 1-16 combined from behind the arc and wide open shots were being bricked, it was the D.
Other highlights:
McCormick saying, "Freshman and sophomores don't understand B1G basketball" Riiiiiiiiiiiiight because Conley and Oden were basketball dumb when they played at OSU.
McCormick's line: "If you don't make shots you can't win games"
And then, as mentioned early, the Dwayne Marble moment by the PbP guy which spurred this on Twitter:
Glad I'm not the only one whose mind went immediately to Oden/Conley/Cook/etc.
The guy clearly hasn't watched college basketball lately. Maybe freshmen aren't ready for the Big Ten, but they keep winning the NCAA tournament. So if there's a problem, it ain't with the freshmen.
Bill Raftery, best in the business. I liked Gus Johnson before every game he called became all about Gus Johnson. I don't need the announcer trying to make a 15 point blowout in January sound like a Final Four nail biter.

But they were gushing about Burke, who is a sophomore.
Just terrible announcing. They would have been better off getting a couple communications students from Northwestern to call the game. It's bad enough looking at that purple court, but adding in the announcing and poor first half made that game very difficult to watch.

As competitive as the business is, with so many comm studies grads every year who'll never get a sniff at national TV, it is amazing they can't find competent announcers. This was barely above the "boom goes the dynamite!" kid.
I have come to realize they have figured it doesn't matter. People who are going to watch Iowa and NW are going to watch regardless of the announcers. Only explanation for the Beth and Joey show. When you broadcast basically every game in the nation, you aren't going to pay for good crews if you don't have to.
But, I am sure the network will get a good chuckle from the Iowa emails.

This is true, this would be like us Hawkeye fans tuning in to watch a DePaul vs Providence game. If we cared enough to tune in and watch a game like that would we care who the announcers were?
During the non conference schedule I was just thankful a game was televised and that I did not have to stream it on a crappy internet connection. It could have been Scooby Doo & Shaggy doing the broadcast for all I cared.
