I'll never forget that day and that night. Here is to duplicating that atmosphere one more time this Saturday! This time with some BLACK and a W! GO HAWKS!!!

I'd rather see a blackout with gold poms or a gold out with black poms...am I alone in that?

I am a big fan of both. Last year the black out with the gold pom poms was awesome! '06 Gold Rush with white towels was pretty damn Koul too! I want to see what Saturday night looks like before I decide whether or not I like it. I am a huge fan of color games. I honestly think we should do them every week. The crowd as a sea of gold, or a sea of black is pretty freaking sweet IMO.
Now that I answered your question, get your a$$ back over to the Coker thread. I am in the midst of picking up a fine young lady!

Yeah I remember that as well. I had friends who came to IC who NEVER come to IC. I just don't see the same atmosphere or anticipation for this game. Maybe it's just me.

I agree with this. I just am more speaking from an atmosphere standpoint. To me, everything is compared to this night. That is the measuring stick for Kinnick Stadium atmosphere. I don't think this Saturday will get there, but this Saturday will be pretty close IMO.
The only thing I see touching this night is possible this year's OSU game if we are 9-1 and they are 10-0.
It was a crazy day and night. Woke up super early to get down to Hubbard for the Gameday thing. Got an orange hard hat. May have gotten on TV. Stayed for the show.
Got down to the stadium early to get a good seat. Place was packed. Pregame atmosphere was RIDICULOUS.
Game was forgettable, however. Only thing that made that game day not all around perfect.
EDIT:
If Iowa and OSU are both undefeated in Big Ten play (OSU being undefeated overall) going into the game in November, it WILL be crazy. It won't be a true night game, so the pregame and kick-off won't look like the previous Iowa-tOSU GameDay, but hopefully the atmosphere will be as electric.
And hopefully, we'll have a great game and a Hawkeye victory!
But we'll get to that down the road....

Yeah I remember being out until 1:30 Friday night, then waking up at 3:30 to head to Hubbard. They didn't even open it up for people until 7, so we stood in line for 3 hours! Then once we were in it was another 2 hours of waiting! I remember the hotel shuttle dropping off Corso around 6 AM or so. I still have my orange hard hat and the hawkeyereport.com "GO HAWKS" sign from that morning! Awesome day!

The blackout with gold poms at night was the BEST college football environment I've been in. Obviously biased, but it trumped the OSU game last year at the Shoe.

Yeah, but if you are talking atmosphere that was #1 hands down. I would put 2008 Penn State and 2004 Wisconsin a pretty close 2nd and 3rd. I have only been going to games since 1999 though. Michigan 2009 is up there too though. Here is to another special night tomorrow!
