This team is tough as nails

Coming off such a big win on the road, a let down could be expected. But coming back after going down 11 early is pretty impressive.

Its fun to be nervous again about BB again.

Gatens, May, & McCabe huge games.

Nervous is an understatement. I live in California and my California born and raised wife thought I was a lunatic--she said she had never seen me fret so much over Iowa Basketball before. I'm happy about that.

Fully expect that the Hawks get run out of Carver in the first 10 minutes on Saturday. Ohio St. just has too much size, muscle, and amazing guard play. We can compete with the middle of the pack, but against real athletic teams like Michigan, Ohio St. and Michigan St., we'll need to play at a whole different level. A comeback from 12 down won't happen with those teams.

Tell me about it - my hands were shaking for 10 minutes after this game ended.. Team about gave me a heart attack with all those missed FT's.

Glad we got the W though!

That has to be another "jump around" win. Hell, from where this program has come in a year and a half any B1G road win is a "jump around" win. Doubt it tonight with the struggles at the line late but I jumped around foe them!!

Minny gave Michigan all they wanted Saturday. I think we give them a game at CHA.

I'm starting to get mad again. In a good way for what seems like a very, very long time.

Gatens has some help now. If the Hawks can stay healthy this team will pull off a few more surprises this season.

We hung with Ohio State in Carver last year, and the year before that. If we play the way we have been, we probably still lose, but we won't get run out of the building. Basabe matches up better with Sullinger than he does Sampson just based on size. Sampson's height advantage is huge. Sullinger is a better player, but Mel should have an easier time getting his than he did tonight.

Gatens, I'm so damn pwoud of that kid. Just a warrior. If you would have told me before this game that we would get nothing on the offensive end from Cartwright and Basabe and still win I would have said you are nuts. Not only that but they missed a 1 and 1 from Gatens and 2 two shot free throws down the stretch and still won. Amazing. Great back to back wins on the road. We are no longer the doormat of the BIG.

I don't think Fran will allow them to think they can't win every game. Awesome to see. Carver should be packed Saturday!

Actually we played all three of those teams very well last year.

Iowa has improved allot more than those teams have. They are still better, at least OSU certainly is, but Iowa has closed the gap considerably.

Minnesota was the team that gave us the most trouble out of anyone last year.

And the roster will continue to improve as the years go by!!!

I suspect we haven't seen the end of this!

Does anyone else notice how cool Fran is when we start making a run and get in the lead? It is like he expects it. That is what we need. Expecting to beat these chumps. He wasn't going all crazy when we won at both these places. Look at Marble, the dude is as cool as the other side of the pillow. Barely looking like he breaks a sweat out there. Tough. Bullies of the BIG?

Yes we did, and spanked the Spartans severely......

I LOVE THAT JIHADDYP IS TRYING TO DROWN HIS DISAPPOINTMENT ABOUT NEWT WITH HAWKEYE BASKETBALL.

Anyone notice Fran smack Archie in the side of the head after he had poor effort at setting a solid screen and the ball handler had to pick up his dribble, resulting in a time out. Last time I saw Archie in the game.

Cool as the other side of the pillow, nice, Eddy.....

Fran handled the refs well tonight. He and one of the refs were grinning and chatting on the sideline.....

Team is developing the elusive chemistry factor.....

:)

We aren't physical enough to have that title. We don't beat teams to a bloody pulp. We're more like a Rocky than a Drago. We outwork teams, and now the talent level is high enough for that to make a serious difference.
