This offense

Our middle of the field intermediate passing game has been non-existent for as long as I can remember. We'll take shots deep down the middle and we'll throw quick slants and stick/sit routes (read: short routes) over the middle, but we seemingly never have a great middle of the field threat. You would think with as many TE's as we've put into the NFL that we would have been able to work that area...but it's under-utilized. If the pass is thrown < 8 yards or > 40 yards, we'll throw it. Anything else...not so much.

You guys do realize you don't have to creatively spell your swear words, right?

Here, watch this:

F. Shit.

Guilty as charged. It is just what I am used to. It feels as if I just spell the word correctly I am doing something wrong. F, something else I will have to adapt to.:)

That is the GD passing game in a nutshell. It is great when you have Jamal Charles or Limas Sweed. Not so much, if your best receiver is Riley McCaron.

We throw 95% of our passes towards the sidelines, either with the 3 yard out, or CJ tries some back shoulder throw...and they'd work, except our WR can't catch a ball.

I am so tired of GD. Get back to deep curls and cuts, hitting the TE over the seam.

He has to be gone after this year right? If he's not, I will consider not watching another game until he's gone. Did same thing under Lick

Granted KOK had some issues, which I think were more with KF than him......but this is Lick of Iowa football. And we've had it in 2012, 2013, 2014, and now 2016

It just sucks

This offense has so many problems it's ludicrous. How many times did they try and run right up the middle on 1st down? Finally, on the last possession, they threw a pass on 1st down. CJ's pocket awareness has been horrid this year. He has little of the feel for pressure he had last year, when he would run or throw it away. CJ did finally sense the pressure coming today and got rid of the ball before getting drilled from the blindside, once. The routes are terrible, too often there are players in the same area, or nobody in an area at all. One play today there was one guy on the left sideline, nobody between that guy and the right hash, and everybody else between the right hash and sideline. Zero deep passing game, barely a mid-range passing game. Here are the long receptions today for Iowa,
Wadley - 21, mostly after the catch
McCarron - 11
Fant - 14
Daniels - 8
Scheel - 6
Smith - 6

Here's the long for Wisconsin's receivers 57, 54, 26, 21, 12, 14, 9, 5.

There was an article on another site with some quotes from a couple of players, but these were my favorites.

Wadley, in regards to the hurry up offense “If it works, why not keep doing it?”
Wadley again, “The defense always comes through. … It’s up to the offense,” said Wadley, Iowa’s leading rusher (10 carries, 44 yards) and receiver (seven catches, 72 yards) Saturday. “We’ve got to be more aggressive. We’ve got to have a sense of urgency.”

Somebody said that Michigan will beat us by 40. If we run the same offense we ran for all but the last possession of each half, I'd argue that 60 is more likely. We're looking at a beatdown like they put on Rutgers.
