Kirk Ferentz deserves another year to try and turn this around. If you take his whole career into account he deserves another year. Should we have another year next year like we just had then I might join the chorus of people calling for a change but he's done enough for this program to warrant at least another year. That is all.

This thread is priceless! This team is NOT worse than 1999. But they are also NOT mediocre. They are a team that lacks the physical ability to succeed in the system the coaches are running.

Now, yes, the coaches are responsible for recruiting players and have failed miserably at times during their tenure and also have failed miserably correcting these mistakes after the fact through signing JUCO and transfer talent.

The fans have a right to be frustrated about that. But it is the fans fault if they didn't expect it and if they spent their entertainment dollars and time accordingly. Just like the coaching staff should have known their team was not going to be competitive, the fans should have known this too.

But, for those who only see this as a never-ending downward spiral, you clearly have no perspective on the program. This is just the way KF's program functions. We have 14 years of extremely consistent data, ingnoring it is YOUR fault.

Now, the question isn't whether KF and the staff should be fired for THIS SEASON, but whether the overall pattern of success is acceptable. If not, you ask for, or make a change. But you could end up with CONSISTENTLY worse or better, rather than consistently sub-par and consistently above par.

Sorry but this season falls completely on the coaches. We have gotten worse as the year has went on and the excuses from Ferentz have gotten better. Iowa has always taken less talented players and made them NFL draft picks, so to say its talent is BS.

In the spring and fall we all saw and heard about was all of these offensive sets and an up tempo offense. We have seen none of it during the year so why did we waste the time in practice on it? Everyone has been wondering why we haven't been using our tight ends more and it has even been asked by the media. So we go out against Michigan and throw only to the tight ends. Its a Joke!!! Third and short or forth and short we play ten yards off the recievers????? Yea that will stop them.

As far as the excuse of coaching changes, thats laughable!!!! How is Penn State doing? How is WISC doing? even with in season coaching changes? Just fine!!!!! How is Ohio State doing? Texas A&M? Ole Miss? Ferentz's grand experiment has failed miserably.

I personaly don't think the players have quit but are frustrated, and they should be. The last 2 games and through out the season players on both sides of the ball have been getting benched for making mistakes on the field or not playing well. That is except for one player on the Offense. Ferentz does not hold all players on the team to the same standard. JVB has not played well in several games but yet stays in the game no matter what. Anyone elso though that goes out and gives 100% but makes a mistake can take a seat.
