Iowa and The Portal.

Receiver
Edge Rusher
Interior D-line

As I have stated in other threads/posts, that is my wish list out of the portal.

Eskildsen(ISU receiver): Would be a good Y or Z receiver to work opposite Vander Zee and you might be able to get on him on the cheap. Budamyr at least better be kicking the tires on that.

Lose/Merriweather: Any opinion on if these guys are ready to take the next step as edge rushers?

Interior D-lineman: Hard to find and they ain’t cheap. Probably gonna have to snag a undersized, under the radar, lower division type.

Eskildsen’s mom went to Iowa State, I doubt he’d look at Iowa to be honest.

Any validity the freshman running back from Texas that entered the portal is looking at Iowa? I wouldn't mind snagging an offensive lineman or two or what about Iowa State's tight end? My buddy swears Rocco has always had a soft spot for Iowa, would grabbing another 1 year wonder at quarterback be even worth it?

I havn't seen anything more than the usual Iowa fans posting gifs of herkey etc under his announcment

Thoughts on Raiola? I think the family's demand that Uncle Don is a package deal is off the table everywhere because of how shitty he was at nebraska, so maybe there's leverage there.

Damn, that would be such a stupid move by the Raiola's. Tying yourself to your uncle just limits your opportunities. They must feel indebted to the guy. Dumb.

I had just heard that back when Dylan was getting recruited that he and his dad said if he signs with nebraska, uncle Donnie comes too. That's how they landed him because they were desperate for a QB. I have to imagine after Don's performance the past 4 years, there's no leverage there anymore. My guess is he either ends up back in the NFL at a low-level assistant job, or somewhere D3.

....and it isn't like Dylan doesn't have his own baggage with pretty much cloning himself as Patrick Mahones and how he comes off as entitled. They have to fight that along with the uncles riding the shirt tails. No thanks.

Fair enough. I don't think he's the next MG but I have to think he's shopping around. His stock was definitely hurt by being at nebraska, maybe he stays. I don't have a clue.

So does ISU or Michigan have any recruits/players we should try to be poaching? Now's the time for Barnes to be doing his diligence. Can't wait till the portal actually opens that's too late.

I was thinking he was a SR, too, but apparently just a JR!

I have always liked Patterson, for how hard he runs on the field, and for how much he seems like a team-oriented dude. That is a lot of young talent in the RB room. Would anyone be surprised if McNeil was the man, next year?

If I had one wish for the RB room, it would be to have breakaway speed. We have a bunch of tough runners and I like them all. Doll seems to have the speed but can he break into the rotation?

I wouldn't even want Dylan at this point. He naively saw himself as a 5-star gunslinger who could single-handedly revive an entire dormant football program like Nebraska's. Hasn't quite worked out the way he envisioned, and in the meantime he's picked up some really bad habits when it comes to throwing the ball. I could see him thriving in a strictly air-raid offense -- if those still exist anywhere -- but Iowa sure ain't that.

He always seemed to me like a B12 guy. Or PAC12 but they don't exist anymore.

Former #1 overall recruit, who is 6'4 with an NFL arm and can move well enough. Kid stupidly chose to go to one of the biggest dumpster fire programs in the nation, who could not protect him with capable OL or skill players. So, in two years as a starter, he looked very inconsistent, and basically elevated the dumpster fire to a mere dumpster. The only thing I put on the kid was his decision to go to Nebraska and not a program that could help him develop.

But, would I take a kid with two years of starting experience in the Big 10, with all those physical traits, and trust Lester to develop a system to maximize his abilities, over an existing room with almost no experience? I would take that kid in a proverbial heart beat and would have some cocktails to celebrate a get of that magnitude.

Would love to see the Raiola family have to walk in the south gate past Nile wearing Tigerhawks all over their clothes. Even though they wouldn't because they're meatheads.

Even Fat Pitzgerald put the black and gold on during his kid's visit. It had to burn like hell but he manned up and did the right thing.
