This is what pisses me off about losing French

Why are we losing four star players out of state? From right on up the road? Kinda ridiculous.

It's not about French, it's about the fact that we lost a high profile player to another state, which I would argue is a situation unique to Iowa.

I can;t imagine the best recruits in Texas or Ohio going to Nebraska.

Although ultimate DB bag move by French to fake to the Iowa hat.

Go check out Nebraska's recruiting class. A lot of the best recruits from Texas

Because our season is in shambles, and Oregon is playing for the title.

If we were even 10-2 right now, he'd probably be a Hawk.

Sad, but true.

The fact that we just went from preseason title contender to an unranked 7-5 team whose star WR was arrested for running a drug house, while Oregon goes 12-0 and plays for the national title doesn't help.

But it happens in ever state, look at how many of Oklahoma's big recruits come from Texas.

Morehouse tweeted that French said this season for both iowa and oregon didn't matter.

Why do these people going out of state have a press conference in IOwa . It is like saying screw you Hawks or clones. They can go where they want, but have the press conference elsewhere and don't rub it in our faces.

I find that hard to believe, but if that's what he said, then I guess...

My guess would be that French didnt want to live in the success of past teams, and instead want to carve his own path when he got there.

FYI- If Gordon wouldn't have decomitted it would have been 2 years in a row we took the #1 recruit out of the state of Wisconsin. It happens. Not that big of a deal.

They are young--they prove to their peers that they are wanted by a top two team. Same reason we lose kids in BB to kansas, carolina , etc They may go there and play less than they would at iowa but that apparently does not matter

I also wasn't a huge fan of the fake towards the hawk hat. Its not uncommon to lose highly recruited players to other schools. I think AP was from Texas and he went to Oklahoma. The #2 RB recruit from Texas right now is going to Okie St or Okla. Fiedorowicz was recruited by Illinois and went to Iowa. But I agree its disappointing when we do have talent here we can't kee it. At least last year we got the two best players in the state with Derby and Morris. And this year we kept Blythe. I would have liked to keep French in Iowa.

Where do you put the odds that French will start at some point at Oregon? Will it be before his senior year?

Imagine what it would be like to be a Cyclone fan. They miss out on all of the top football talent from the state of Iowa usually. Now that would definitely suck!

Isn't he a 3 star? I've never even heard of the kid, although I live in Texas. Maybe he wanted to get out of the state and play for a team that's in the National Title game? I don't blame him. This just leaves room for Iowa to sign more 4 and 5 star athletes.... :)
next....

I don't understand all of the love for this guy.He might be 4* on paper but that's all.I don't recall him being that much of a impact player this year.I say let him go,good bye and good luck.

That tells me plenty about the kid. Sounds like a good fit for Oregon.

Well I think the high rating has more to do with his frame and speed then actual results on the field. 6'6 230 with a 4.4 doesnt come along very often in Iowa. His numbers weren't off the charts on the field. I think any coach would love a chance to have a player of his freakish size/speed combo. As for an impact at Oregon and when, I think it just depends on what position they want him to play. I was never really sold at him as a WR, but I am sure the people at Iowa and Oregon know a little more about his talents and upside. I always thought OLB or DE, maybe TE if he can block. I guess we shall see. Hopefully next year we can keep Darboh and Barkley Hill.

Darboh has offers from ia, isu, uw and nd. but has interest from oregon, usc, nebrask, etc. It says Hill's only offer right now is from isu with ia and oklahoma both interested.

Christian French is the classic case of a guy that looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane, but gets all caught up in the hype of the recruiting process and actually starts to think he really is a good football player. We'll all be asking "whatever happened to Christian French?" in three years.
