This is the spot we all wanted to be in at the beginning of the year....

Obviously the route we've taken to get here has been anything but smooth. Lord knows I still fume about the ISU game every time I think about it. And the bi-polarness we've shown on both offense and defense has been, shall we say, somewhat frustrating. But it's time to save the b!tching and moaning for the end of the season because with 4 games to go, we control everything and more likely than not, the divisional championship is coming thru Kinnick. And that's what we all hoped for....to be in this position. I'm sure there were a few who had dreams of grandeur regarding the new playoff, but that was never going to be in play.....not with the schedule we have. But essentially all of our goals/expectations are still on the table. We can still win double-digit games, we can still win the division, we can still win the conference and we can still go to a major bowl game.

I, for one, am looking forward to the ride!

This is definitely where I hoped and thought we could be at this time (in position to compete for the division). One thing that concerns me is that 4 teams in the west are saying the same thing; everyone has the same motivation mindset right now. So really no edge there. I am hoping the team plays with the same chip on shoulder/pizzed off aggression they did Saturday.

Ps Spider, I totally agree about saving the beaching and moaning until the end of the year. Stand behind this team and staff until it's over (sorry... not trying to throw out derail bait).

The clown state game still gnaws at me. We would be 7-1, ranked and have an outside shot at the playoff still. Potentially finishing the year by beating Wisconsin, Nebraska and MSU and being 12-1 would get us in to the 4 team playoff. I don't care if we had a weak schedule to just get in on the first year would be huge exposure for our program.

Alas, the clown game ended all possibility. Ill gladly take the B1G however.

Not to be a wet blanket, but the thought of us rolling this defense out against one of the top 3 teams in the land is absolutely terrifying and the only exposure we'd get would be as poster child for why the Big Ten doesn't even belong in part of the group that sends teams to the playoff and highlight reel film that would be shown on draft days. Lowdermilk getting torched would be on ESPN's draft coverage for liek 18 minutes in the first few rounds of the draft.

Agree that crunch time is here, and the Hawks are in the thick of it.

If Iowa somehow won the divison, and then upset MSU/OSU, they probably get the Fiesta or Orange Bowl... would be very very happy with that outcome, but I have a nagging feeling that now, even winning the league leaves some fans empty because of this new standard....playoff berth. That sucks, because winning the Big Ten should be a fabulous season, no matter what.

MN will not be a factor. They will be losing at least 3 of their last 4. Mark it down.
