This is getting so much more ****ed up...

If a linkage is made between PSU boosters (who are also Sandusky donors) this is as bad for PSU as it is the charity.

It's the same community of people. Sandusky, through his past and present association with PSU and presence on campus as of last week is inextricably linked to Penn State.

Are there really that many people who are in to pedophelia? Is this what rich people do for excitement when they get tired of spending money on hookers and blow?

This entire turn of events at Penn State will affect them at many different levels. They will support from people that are disgusted by the scandal and lose support from those that were big Paterno supporters. It is a no win situation for Penn State, nor should it be. They made their bed they get to sleep in it.

I really really really really hope that these rumors about more allegations are not true.

This situation doesn't need any more victims. It's incredibly tragic as it is.

If this is true then this was clearly bigger then JoePa. Boosters definitely wield a lot more power then the coach (at least I think they do). Still with that said JoePa should have stood up against this. I am shocked that they have not fired McQueary yet.

I guess thats a good question to ask. Do boosters have the most power and say? If your giving millions I'm guessing you hold a lot of power. money=power

I'm guessing he finishes out the year and then the whole staff is gone when they bring in a new head coach.

I'm going to need more info before I can even consider this a possibility.

Agreed. On the show they also "speculated" that it might come out that Joe Pa knew of the details of the shower incident back in 1998 and used his influence to cover it up. That rumors makes a whole lot of sense. The talk show hosts were saying that three departments knew about the allegations which probably led to a minimum of a dozen or more officials having knowledge. You don't need to go very far out on the limb to believe JoePa was told of the sordid details. Sandusky just so happened to unexpectedly retire soon after. The truth will come out soon enough. Too many people would know.

Guys, didn't we learn anything from all the rumors and "reliable sources" when we had our rhabdo and drug fiascoes just last winter? How about we wait to get some actual facts?

If this stuff is true Hell will have one heck of a football team.

I'm pretty sure the victims would tell you that they are already going through hell, and it is located in State College PA, and sandusky is the devil.

Where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

Sometimes the fire can be put out before many people see it, however.

Anyhow, wow, just wow. This is so incredibly sickening and disgusting, just wow.

I'm normally not one to call for something like this, but if these allegations are true, it would seem that not only did Sandisgusting use his position at PSU and his access to the program to victimize youths, it seems reasonable that everyone involved from the President down to the janitors, to the players and the boosters not only did little to nothing to stop it, they were complicit in this scandal. If true, the NCAA should give them the death penalty, even though NCAA bylaws were broken. This is so much more, so much bigger than football.

Wow, and I thought that Nebraska entering the B1G, and O$U's tatoogate were big.

Truely shocking.

Just... stunning.

I have to say, I felt that JoePa's firing yesterday (by phone!) felt abrupt to me if based solely on his failure to press the 2002 issue further. That was a major failure, yet after 61 years of service the guy has genuinely earned some benefit of the doubt, and consideration for his decades of undeniably positive contributions. Let him coach his last home game, for God's sake. I understand I may be in the minority on that.

But if the board had any info, at all, that Joe knew more than that? It explains yesterday's action, and JoePa can rot in hell.

.....and now the NCAA is getting involved.

They are "monitoring" the situation to see if any association bylaws have been violated, while staying out of the way of any criminal investigation.

To add to my post, after seeing this article, written last APRIL for Pete's sake, I find it impossible to believe Joe didn't know more: http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/big-10-sports/37097-article-last-april-pointed-cover-up.html

The events of 1998/1999 simply weren't a coincidence - a long-time, award-winning coach doesn't retire at age 55 like that. Joe knew. F' him. I still don't understand why he wasn't indicted for claiming McQueary didn't give him details. We know McQueary gave details to the administration, why would he hold back with Joe, the first guy he met with?
