But the Paulsen twins can do the splits and dance at basketball halftime, and Wirfs can hang clean 15,000 lbs!!!Zone blocking with this group has been a disaster . Somebody on every play blocks the wrong guy . Wondering if these kids would be more suited for hat on hat ? Then I watch someone block a hat right in front of them and they get bitch slapped . The offensive line looks like MAC level talent with a Mac level QB
When I watched the Wirfs video I threw my Hawkeye hat and ran a block screaming “let’s go!!!” After these last two performances I will be searching for a golden girls marathon on Saturday. But the Paulsen twins can do the splits and dance at basketball halftime, and Wirfs can hang clean 15,000 lbs!!!
That has to be worth something. At least twitter says it does.
Weakness isn’t the problem. Assignments and technique are, and that’s coaching.Exactly right they would be, and they should be here as well. Maybe it's time to take a look at Doyle as well, and why our line is so weak and getting pushed around every single game.
LMAO......good stuffWeakness isn’t the problem. Assignments and technique are, and that’s coaching.
When 5 year guys who’ve earned letters are whiffing on blocks and turned facing the quarterback trying not to hold instead of staying in front of their assignment, that’s coaching. The only reason Wirfs looks good out there is because his cartoonish genetics and strength can make up for it. The rest of those guys look like MAC backups.
Maybe next time Ferentz can hire a guy who’s actually played on a line or had some experience coaching one before.
That just completely befuddles me how he got the job. I mean, this is a Big Ten program with way more money than most, how do you hire a guy with zero experience (playing or coaching) to run that unit?
Would you hire a video guy who had never run a camera before but had watched someone do it a whole bunch of times?
Would you hire a truck driver to haul the gear from one stadium to the next if he had never been behind the wheel before?
Not only that, would you continue to let the guy drive your rig even if he keeps repeatedly crashing the truck like Polasek has done?

Why wouldn't BF have time?He probably has no time to help Polesak. Or maybe he is and that's the problem?

Polasek will be the scapegoat. His firing gets BF a few more years.
We have two former OL coaches and two former OCs on staff, none of them with much experience in their actual position. KF to OL coach, Polasek or OKeefe to OC, and Brian to HC. Problem solved.Letting Polasek go would be a great way to say it's not Brian's fault.
