This D May Be As Fun to Watch as the '85 Bears

This D has only given up one garbage time touchdown. Damn near no touchdowns in 2 games.

Even during that drive I was like man I wish our ones were still in there to shut em out.. But it was what it was. Those #2 guys got some real time reps against their first team. Those sort of 'style points' won't matter it would have been pretty much just for braggings sake

And quarterbacks. They usually didn't survive the game once that defense got into high gear. It took about six weeks and there were some early shootouts with Tampa Bay and Minnesota. After that 49er revenge game it was Katy bar the door.

I thought another impressive game that year is when the Bears beat the Cowboys 44-0 at Dallas in total domination. I think they knocked out 2 Cowboy QBs and when they showed the 3rd string QB coming in the game he had fear in his eyes.

First, we have no idea if either team we beat are good teams.

Second, the 85 bears had an extremely potent offense.

Third, our offense doesn’t dominate anyone or anything. The bears offense was on the field a long time and gave the defense long periods of rest.

Fourth, thus far our offense has looked BAD against teams that we have no idea how good or bad their defenses are.

Fifth, our offensive line has looked porous as Stanley seldom has time to set up in the pocket.

Sixth, if you think this team has been fun or entertaining to watch you probably enjoy watching cars rust.

I get it that your are talking about the defense but Iowa State appears to be a one dementional team offensively which is their running back. We were able to key on him. God only knows what going to happen when we play a team that has multiple offensive threats.


The bears 85 defense just overpowered and smothered their opponents. Richard Dent was an absolute beast and had to be doubled teamed and even then he couldn’t be kept out of the backfield.

The 85 bears had the Super Bowl shuffle. Our offense looks like they should be playing shuffleboard with a bunch of geriatric ward members. Just awful.

A win is a win and I will give them that. Beat UNI and then when we play Wisconsin beat them and then I will give our team props. I don’t care if we win 3-0 or 10-7 against Wisconsin, just win. Then I will be impressed.

The bears this team is not at this point. Beat UNI and shut down Wisconsin then we will be talking a comparison to the 85 BEARS. If you want to compare our team to the last bears Super Bowl team that would be more realistic as the last bears Super Bowl team got to there with a strong defense and a placid offense.

NIU was not as good as advertised, but David Montgomery is and ISU has good WRs, so they are not 1 dimensional. I think by November this ISU win will turn out to be a win versus a quality opponent. Probably the 3rd best team Iowa plays this year. Maybe 4th if Northwestern does it’s usual thing.

There was something smelly about that Miami game. They weren’t even close to being the best team we played that year. Actually they were well below par for their franchise. Yep there was definitely something wrong there. There was some supposed extra reason why they were going to play out of their minds to protect the legacy of their franchise being the only undefeated team from regular season through the Super Bowl in NFL history. I don’t buy it.
