think we are predictable on offense?

Well, I hate to complain at 5-0, but the announcer during the Wisconsin game was able to pretty much accurately predict run/pass based on down and distance, time after time. So yeah, too predictable. But yeah, 5-0. I get it. Still, I'm sure there's room for improvement in certain areas when it comes to breaking tendencies, etc.

Just because we're 5-0 doesn't mean that everything is perfect and there's no further tweaks or improvements that could be made. The work is never really done, is it?

We're not 5-0 because of our offense. Better believe that.

I have to admit we are not quite as predictable as we were in years past, but just knowing whether a run or pass is coming
is a huge advantage to a defense. I am elated with us being 5-0 but i think our offense would greatly improve if we could keep
opposing defenses guessing a little more. I'm not saying it's a huge problem but i think it is one that could be easily fixed....

Watch the second half of last week's game then.

With the field position we were getting, the wind, and the injury at left tackle resulting in Schobert being extremely disruptive, it really limited our play calling. Perfect conditions with T. Smith in and I'm sure our offense looks different.

Other than the WI game, we have scored a lot of points. Yes, I know that the level of competition has been debated, but we play the teams that were likely scheduled long before the current players were even at Iowa. There have been a number of years when we have not scored points at the level of this 5-0 Hawk team. And, arguably, the level of competition in the early season in past years was not any stronger than the 2015 schedule.

The position that Iowa went into a shell on O in the second half against WI is a silly statement. Watch the game. Late in the 3rd Q we passed as much as we ran the ball. In the 4th Q we threw the ball when we had decent field position. In fact, we threw deep. Then, the inside zone started to produce yards and get first downs and run the clock. We stayed with what worked. In fact, with the pressure WI had on CJ when we did try to pass, plus poor field position, we probably were at risk throwing at all...see CJ fumble and see CJ get caught from behind on a key play.

The wind was brutal (I was in the stadium). We missed Tevaun. WI played great defense. Canzeri ran the ball very well and for the most part, the line blocking was pretty effective. Yes, the blitz by WI was also effective. Every team we play will first try to stop our run game and then blitz if we go to the passing game...find me a game around the country where this does NOT happen.

As to predictability: We are talking about the elite of the elite division 1 coaches with highly skilled staffs. If you don't think they can scout out tendencies on any team, you are pretty naive. Make fun of Kirk when he talks constantly about execution. Then listen to every other big time coach in the country and they say the same thing.

End rant.

So our 57 yard field goal was done by a defensive player. Our defense moved the ball down there so we could kick it.Not to take anything from our D but I would say they both have played well and bad at times.
