Think this photo chaps Bo Ryan's arse?

That photo was e-mailed to Bo's office this morning and his administrative assistant just tweeted a pic of his reaction:

I'm looking forward to watching Uthoff play. I think he's one of those kids who won't do anything great but everything very good. Just a solid all around player that makes a team better. Plus it's easy to root for Iowa kids.

A bit off topic, but Matt Thomas of WI has just eliminated UW and is now down to ISU and UVA. I have to wonder if this whole Uthoff thing is starting to rear it's ugly head already.

I know when I think of rear and head and ugly I think of Bo Ryan.

Perhaps, but I wouldn't read too much into it yet...

Ryan does have the highest-ranked recruit he's ever had coming to Madison this fall, Dekker. Bo didn't come off particularly well in the Uthoff case, but the Badgers have been consistently good while he's been there, and I'll need to see on-court evidence that the Badgers are slipping before I believe it.

Yes. I really think the "this Uthoff thing is going to destroy Bo Ryan's ability to recruit" argument is a bit overblown. I think Wisconsin will be fine.

I actually kind of agree with Stewo. I don't think anything in particular is going to make it obvious that the Uthoff situation is effecting their recruiting, but I think behind the scenes it will have more of an effect than you guys think. Basically, it gives opposing coaches a little more ammunition to try to sway a kid's decision. Not just the kid's decision, but also his parents. The whole "Look at how immaturely Bo handled this situation" type of thing. I understand he has an obligation to the basketball team, but his biggest obligation should be to the kids he coaches. Handcuffing a kid and his options simply because he doesn't want to play for you anymore is pretty a unreasonable and childish approach.

Like I said, I don't think it will have a major impact. However, if a kid is torn between two schools it certainly could be enough of an issue to sway that player in another team's direction.

Their top recruit for next year, Matt Thomas will be deciding between Iowa state and Virginia. I hope he is smart enough to go to Virginia with all the transfers hoiberg takes. Anyway, he was an off guard they wanted pretty badly.

He's going to Iowa State. People say he's a little further along than Scotty C was at this point in his career.
