The speed of KMM, Duzey, on the replay and Powell, maybe Smith

IF we have all this speed at WR, why do our receivers have so much trouble getting separation on their routes? Honest question. Lacking strength? Poor route running? Hard to get a good view of this on TV broadcasts, so has anybody that has been at the games noticed anything?

KMM is open most of the time. He cuts nicely and runs good routes. While he is obviously fast, his speed comes on after he gets going. He doesn't have the greatest acceleration. He also seems to be struggle against physical corners.

Powell is very fast and has great acceleration, but I don't think he is very comfortable with quick cuts. He seems to avoid them (perhaps weak ankles/knees?). He also likes to watch the ball coming in, so it may be that he isn't very comfortable trying to catch the ball over his shoulder. The couple of times that we have seen the ball go deep toward him, he made his adjustments way late.

Haven't really seen enough of Smith to know why we don't see more of him.

Rest of the WR don't have much speed or run routes all that well...

So why'd he throw it to the guy in red the last drive? Had plenty of time.

Communication. It was a good throw if Powell had continued/adjusted his route. I suspect that Powell read the defense incorrectly/made the wrong adjustment, as he sat down under the corner not really open. Had he continued across the middle under the safety, he had an open route (although he was likely to get popped after the catch).

He has some jets said Reeves of Duzey. "Very concerned," Meyer said when asked about the play. "4.5 seconds when we were recruiting them. Find out who was giving us these 40 times."

A good 40-time is not going to help you on an 85-yard play. A 40-time is more of a measure of quickness/burst and not top-end speed. Maybe Urban needs to time his players in a 100 yard dash too...

I would like to give kudos to the IOWA OFFENSE and a special THANK YOU to our new found speedster Jake D. I've heard that they had to bring in fire trucks to Ohio stadium and hose it down. Seems that 103 thousand people upchucked after Jake burnt their secondary and are having a ruff time living that one down. GO HAWKS POUND THE KITTENS!!!

Oh the irony. At least my post critique obliquely referenced thread content.

I get the irony, but there is a difference, besides yours referencing thread content. When there is a pointless post that adds nothing to the thread, many times the person responsible for that is being an idiot. One then has to decide whether to let that person be an idiot, which is basically letting them get away with something, or they can call them out for being an idiot. In doing the latter, they risk someone calling them out for not adding anything constructive to the thread. I would argue, however, that calling someone out for this sort of thing does add something to the board, as the intent is to show them for being a fool in the hopes they won't continue to act that way.

We are slow...

See the problem is we are talking about one of our fastest guys... He plays TE. That should tell you something about our WRs.

KMM was the only one catching him. Overall we are not fast but do have some players with speed. One could argue that WR getting open can have as much to do with crisp routes and timing of throw as it does pure speed. Eddie Hinkel wasn't fast but the dude was open a lot.
