It isn't because of DJK and the other slew of off field issues with players.
It isn't that the bars in IC don't let under 21s into the bar.
It isn't because Iowa has not had a WR drafted since 2002 (7 since 1936!).
It isn't because of the coaches or staff.
It isn't because of people on message boards bashing a kids talent because they don't think his skills reflect some star ranking that he has no control over.
It isn't because he wants to go experience life outside of Iowa.
It isn't because the tail in Oregon is way better that Iowa (Well that may be true)

It is because of what you see in the picture I attached. Take a look at the huge cassette player being used to record his press conf. I don't think he will be seeing any of that where he is going.

Wait waht are you saying? He went there for less attention? I don't get it.

I think he is saying the Oregon facilities are light years away from what you see in Iowa.

BTW: Iowa girls are waayyy hotter than Oregon girls. I grew up on the West Coast and my entire family lives in the Pacific NW. Don't know exactly why, but there is a massive dropoff with regard to talent when you get above SF. Portland is better than Seattle, but not by much.

IC can more than hold it's own with any college town that isn't on a warm coast. Shocked the **ll out of me when I moved there. Didn't expect that all.

But, as I said elsewhere, Eugene is an awesome college town and Autsen is an awesome environment. I have been all over the college towns of the US and Eugene doesn't suffer a comparison to anyone. Seriously.

hawkfarmer I am sorry you don't get it. You may still rocking be rocking an 8 track player and think that a cassette player being used to record a presser is a jump up in technology, however kids these days are impressed by new and shiny things and Oregon has deeeeeep pockets to give these kids an environment that they would not be able to experience in all but a few places. I am not saying it is right or wrong, but Oregon is the new shiny gadget in football and that is why we lost out.

Not good or bad it just is.

You might have missed the part where he said this:

Nope, can't watch it at work. I'm with you now.

Right now, it's tough to put the 2 programs side by side and expect for a recruit to choose Iowa.

Its pretty well known that Oregon has the best athletic facilities in the nation. I can't blame anyone for choosing that school.

To make matters worse, in 10 years when those facilities are caught up to by other schools, they'll just upgrade again and get ahead of the curve again.

Or maybe the kid just didn't want to stay in Iowa... Could it be that simple? Geez... talk about over analyzing...

This is not a huge loss for Iowa at all. The kid is a talented athlete but its a stretch for him to be considered a must get player. I can't believe how upset fans get when we lose a recruit. I don't see him making any kind of an impact at Oregon on either side of the ball. Nice kid, not a great FB player. I think his name just has a ring to it and probably got him an extra star.

Sure. National title contenders are such poor evaluators of talent, after all.

Those are tremendous facilities. Who wouldn't want to be there?

Quack-quack.

Oregon coaches have been on record as saying they don't necessarily recruit talent, they recruit speed. Their entire philosophy is to recruit the fastest kids whether or not they have the football talent and then put them in the best spots to help the team.

Oregon.....just another example of College Sports Gone Wild.

Why not have a nationwide draft of high school players by all Div 1 programs annually? Players will be paid based on their draft ranking and then will start their careers except in this case they will not be students........just members of the Div 1 "farm team" that supplies players to the NFL. The University of Iowa Hawkeyes, farm team for the Kansas City Chiefs.

This would better justify some fans and player's behaviors, coach's salaries, win at all cost attitudes, some players disguised as student athletes, gambling casino advertising at games, alcoholic beverages at all events, Roman Empire stadiums, conferences jockeying for more $$$, and last but not least.......a playoff to determine the winner of all the universe.

I still follow the game and the Hawks but find myself shaking my head more and more as the overall college sport's atmosphere continues to change.

I don't get too excited or upset over recruits, but I also don't badmouth high school kids.

You think he's no good, the coaching staff of one of the two best teams in the country think he is. I think I'll lean towards the successful coaching staff.

Although the name with a ring to it is a good point, you almost swayed me with that. Then I realized that if that were the case they NEVER would have let Marvin McNutt slip through their fingers.:)
